The emotions of winning a playoff series are always incredible. Pride,
excitement, euphoria...it's an amazing experience. But the way the
Sixers won this one, the emotions are all overshadowed by the need to
just fucking laugh and laugh and laugh. Because there's no real pride to
take in this win, not really. There's a mild sense of excitement, but
more so it's just extreme relief that they didn't lose and force us to
watch a seventh game in this series. Euphoria? Yeah, no. All there is is
the purest of hilarity. And that's because of this simple fact:
The Sixers won a post-season series because Andre Iguodala hit two free throws in the clutch.
I'll be back to recap the game in full in a bit, when I've had time to
settle down and process this series of events a little bit (I will NEVER
process it fully), and I'll also see if I can try to put the irony of
this situation in proper historical perspective. But for now let's just
revel in the fact that professional sports...well, they never fail to
surprise, do they? You think they've seen it all, and then the
Philadelphia 76ers are in the second round of the playoffs because Andre
Iguodala hits two of two. ONE TWO THREE FOUR SECOND ROUND SIXERS.
