Hey DJ Beef, Please Don't Quit Your Day Job

Share

No, really. Pleeeease don't quit your day job.

The Phillies top pitching prospect, Trevor May, spends a lot of his free time playing with his Mac computer and learning how to use DJ equipment.

May, who moonlights as DJ Hey Beef, gave Philly.com's Zach Berman a demonstration on just what goes into making a "DJ concert." You've got to match songs with the same beats per minute, you see, so you can switch from one song to another without anyone noticing (assuming someone is listening). Then comes the fun part: you can add additional sounds by pressing buttons.

"Wishy sounds, tazers, laser sounds, all kinds of stuff you can add to songs. Those are things that I'll add on Saturday. It'll be a little more complex than that, but that's basically gist of it," Mays tells Berman.

What's on Saturday, you ask? DJ Hey Beef will be performing at FirstEnergy Stadium as part of the Reading Phillies' Yuengling Post-Game Concert Series.

Tickets are still available.
