A Virtual Preview of the New ‘Marlins Ballpark'

Share

The Phillies have the Liberty Bell and the Marlins have a....uh....well, this.

The much-maligned home run structure -- complete with marlins, flamingos and palm trees -- will indeed be present behind Miami's center field wall on their April 4th Opening Day, but it could be injected into your video games consoles as early as March 6th.

Welcome to the MLB 12: The Show video game. Usually we provide clips in the offseason of a virtual Roy Halladay breaking virtual faces with his virtual cutter, but with all the fan fare (and none of the actual fans!) surrounding the opening of the new Marlins Ballpark, we present to you (via Operationsports.com) The Show's first-ever rendering of that monstrosity of a home run "thing" -- oh, and the rest of the park, too.

Take special note of the Greg Dobbs sighting at the 38-second mark, Placido Polanco getting fanned about 10-ticks later and Jose Reyes going yard immediately thereafter:

We have the feeling that if we do end up purchasing a copy of the game, we'll be trying our hardest to play small ball on the road in Miami.

Also, we were going to make this joke, but NBC's HardballTalk beat us to it:

"Fun stuff, though I have to say that the folks at Sony are obviously very optimistic about the Marlins’ attendance for this season."

Alright PS3heads, who's buying so we can come over and play?
