Angelo and Andy on Eagles WRs

Andy Reid was a guest of the WIP morning show today, where Angelo Cataldi went right for the questions pertaining to the Eagles sometimes puzzling approach to wide receivers.

Our Interview With Mike Missanelli

Mikemiss Last month, both of the sports talk radio stations in Philly announced some major changes to their daily lineups. One of the biggest moves was the return of Mike Missanelli, formerly of 610 WIP, to Philadelphia, only he'd be heard a few clicks down the dial at 950 WPEN, which became an ESPN station. As most sports talk fans in Philly know, Missanelli's tenure at WIP didn't end very amicably, but he says the past is the past and he's moved on. However, Missanelli's show took over the afternoon drive time, opposite Howard Eskin, and so far, neither man has been shy about stoking the flames of competition in the time slot (thankfully). Being regular sports talk radio listeners, we thought we'd ask Mike if he'd be interested in answering a few questions about his time in New York, his on-air style, his dismissal at WIP, Stephen A. Smith, and more.

You're back in Philly after a few years in the Big Apple. What major differences have you noticed in your years of fielding calls from the fan bases in these two cities?
The New York audience is much more subdued in their analysis and commentary of their sports. That's probably because their attention is so much more diluted by the presence of so many more teams and activities there, or it could be because we just naturally live sports so much more on a daily basis. Sports is much more an escape for us here in Philly.

How would you describe your co-host during your time in New York, one Mr. Stephen A. Smith?
I enjoyed it immensely. Steve is a really a good guy and we had a good bob and weave to the issues. Obviously, he is a major black media voice. One of the things I always admired about Stephen A, even when he was just a columnist at the Philadelphia Inquirer, is that he wasn't afraid to say something that was on his mind, without regard to how people would react. That's the way I've always tried to conduct my sports talk radio life. Even though I didn't agree with everything Steve had to say, I admired that he would say it. And the fact that I disagreed with him on issues made for a better radio show. Now, I will also say that Steve is a very verbose guy, and I had to make sure that the 20 words I got in each day counted.

Howard Eskin Interviews Hillary, Remarkably Doesn't Ask Her What's For Dinner

Hillary Clinton Cubs Yankees hat As many of you know, the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary next week is a wee bit important for the two remaining candidates. Hillary Clinton was a guest on Howard Eskin's show yesterday afternoon and "The King of Bling" brought the hardball. Okay, not really. It's actually a pretty nondescript interview and Hillary never admits to wanting to be Julius Erving. But the kids over at Umpbump.com felt the need to rip into the Howard for his hard hitting journalism.

Audio of the interview after the jump. And in more exciting political news, Stephen Colbert is in Philly all week eating cheesesteaks with a little bonus Nutter footage.

Macnow Back at Middays, Ike to Evenings

Glenmacnow We previously reported on the rumor that Glen Macnow would be moving from evenings to middays on 610 WIP, and that part of the story has been confirmed. Glen will be opposite his former co-host, 950's Jody Macdonald, who moves from drive time to middays starting on Tuesday. Midday sports talk radio has a lot of class and talent with these two gentlemen. Former Eagles special teamer Ike Reese will be taking Glen's evening slot.

One twist we heard yesterday, which is not yet confirmed, is that Anthony Gargano will join Glen from 2 to 3, then share the 3 to 7 slot with Howard Eskin. Again, this part has not been confirmed, and Laura Nachman says it's only for next week.

Audio: The700Level.com Guest Segment With WIP's Brian Startare

For the select few of you who were not up early this morning listening to 610 WIP's show with Brian Startare at 1:15 AM, I've gone and posted the audio below.  I was on discussing a few of the posts that appeared on The700Level.com yesterday.  So if you feel like listening to me ramble, jump away.

Um, and whatnot.

WIP Rumor: Martorano Out, Macnow to Middays

After sweeping changes were announced at 950 WPEN last week, the Philly airwaves shakeup may be spreading to WIP. Via Dan Gross:

There are hardcore rumors at 610 WIP that nighttime host Glen Macnow will move to middays to cohost with Anthony Gargano. Steve Martorano, who's currently paired with Gargano, is said to be leaving the station for a job outside of radio.

Former Eagle Ike Reese, a frequent WIP guest and longtime friend of the station, is rumored to be taking over Macnow's 7 to 11 p.m. slot. Station manager Marc Rayfield did not reply to e-mails.

The Cuz's Curse continues! The only thing we have heard confirmed is that this is currently only a rumor, and nothing is official. If this comes to fruition, it would mean a clean sweep of my current drive time favorites, as I'd grown accustomed to hearing Jody or Glen, depending on when the whistle blows on a given day. On the bright side, if you time it right, you can keep switching back and forth between 610 & 950 and get the old Mac & Mac Middays show.

Wing Bowl Wrap: Down Goes El Wingador

Wingloser We pretty much ignored the hype surrounding this year's Wing Bowl but I felt we should at least mention it happened.  A.J. over at the Philly Mag blog has a real nice wrap up of what he says was a weak Wing Bowl.

The show? Timid this year. There were no horrifying evacuations (there was one competitor who was disqualified after “snotting” a piece of chicken out his nose), and although crowd was praying for a triumphant Bill “El Wingador” Simmons upset, reigning champion Joey Chestnut’s professional jaws were just too formidable. Simmons placed third, behind another professional eater, the sinewy, mohawked, Patrick Bertoletti.

So the evil Chestnut won and El Wingador will put the wings down and walk away from the... table?  We've yet to find any real good photos from the event.  If you know what I mean.  Philly.com has all sorts of coverage as well.

Video report after the jump.

You Know The Eagles Really Stink When...

You know things are really, really bad when... Dave Spadaro is "disgusted."

Commenters invited to have fun with this one.

For those wanting to hear Dave Spadaro talk about yesterday's game in the most negative tone I've ever heard him, we've got audio after the jump.  If he says the Giants stink, I wonder what he'd say about the Eagles.  Spads even says he'd like to see Kolb get some action.  I can't believe my ears.  Heresy!

The Cheesesteak Triple Crown

We've yet to mention this year's incarnation of Wing Bowl.  There are rumors that this could be the final chapter in the storied history of Wing Bowl.  We'll keep you posted.

Anyway, here is a video of a guy trying to eat the "triple crown of cheeseteaks": one Geno's, one Pat's, and one Tony Luke's.

Mike Missanelli Has Been Found.. Hanging Out With Stephen A.

In case you were wondering where Mikey Miss has been lately, a reader writes in to tell us that he's in New York.  And they hate him, "How did you Philly folk employ him for so long?  He's partnered with Stephen A of all people on 1050 ESPN radio in NYC and he's absolutely positively unbearable.  He's just a complete jackass."

Glad to see a Philly guy representing us so well.  From SimonOnSports:

Then I guess the execs upstairs finally decided that Smith needed a partner, and I guess they somehow came to the conclusion that Smith could use a co host who was almost as deafening as Stephen A and even more annoying. And so they pinpointed Mike Missanelli, a Philly guy who was canned last year for basically starting a fight with his producer.

I don't think this guy ever says anything positive ever. If the Yanks are winning it's cause they're playing bums, if the Mets are losing he'll say that they're tormented with injuries but when a caller comes in and says the same thing they rip him saying he's being soft. It is absolutely unbelievable that a man could come on and make Stephen A's annoying moments look tame.

I wasn't real strong either way on Missanelli.  I thought that he tended to work pretty well with the Cuz, Anthony Gargano, on the mid day show.

Best Of The Nest: Greatest Eagles Team Ever

Who was the greatest?  Who was the best of all time?  If two athletes from different eras could actually compete against each other, who would come out on top?  All valid questions.  But what about the greatest Eagles team of all time?  610 WIP radio host Glen Macnow has come up with an well researched way to have some fun with this question.   He doesn't stop with the computer simulations, he recruits the brilliant voices of Joe Conklin to add stories to the stats.

I was curious after hearing about the idea, so I got in touch with Glen and asked him to give us a brief summary of the project.  Glen explains:

While I was home recovering from double knee replacement, I passed the time watching NFL Films countdown of the 20 greatest Super Bowl teams. Of course, it botehered me that no Eagles team even qualified. It got me wondering, which was the greatest Eagles team ever?

I’ve been a fan for a few years of the website whatifsports.com, which allows you to play any two teams from any eras. So, with Ray Didinger’s help, I chose and seeded the six top Eagles teams: (from #1) – 1949, 1960, 1980, 1988, 1995 and 2004. I put them in my tournament, giving the top two seeds a first-round bye.

Then I ran each matchup through the computer 300 times. I counted which team won more, and found the “average” win (score and margin of victory) for that team in that game. That became the result.

I wrote a script for each game, and brought in the genius Joe Conklin to provide voices – Merrill, Bill Campbell, John Facenda, Ray Rhodes, Andy Reid, Dick Vermeil, Rich Kotite, Ricky Watters, Reggie White and many more.

Each night’s game will feature a 10-minute pregame interview with an actual player or coach (not Conklin), including Eric Allen, Dick Vermeil and others. Then the fantasy “game” takes about 25 minutes, followed by a post-game show.

Now that's the kind of project we can get behind.  The part that really makes it exciting to me is the faux story lines that Conklin and Macnow are creating.  The games tip off each night this week at 8:00.  I'm pulling for the potent offensive threat of the 2004 squad hoping that the lethal combo of Donovan McNabb to Terrell Owens can pull this one out for the youngsters out there who remember them so fondly.  I mean, we loved that team.  They just failed us in the end by getting beat by a superior squad.

It's certainly a fun idea and I'm interested to see how it turns out and comes to fruition.  For those unaware, you can listen online at home over the Internets.

Charlie Manuel Challenges Howard Eskin To Fight

Charliemanuelhowardeskin It can't get any worse.  That's the only thing I could think while sitting in the first row in left field last night freezing my ass off.  It was a completely disheartening game.  The Mets showed why they are the real team to beat and the Phillies showed us that they are simply the same old Phillies.

Moises Alou seems to typify this very well.  Pat Gillick, in all of the moves he has orchestrated since being in Philadelphia, has not pulled a single move like the Mets signing of Moises Alou.  Sure, Alou is old, but last night he showed he can still play.  At the plate, with two bombs, and in the field with an amazing catch, Alou showed why the Mets are a superior baseball team.

It was cold, it was windy, and it was ugly.

After the game, there were fireworks.  From the AP's summary of the Phillies 8-1 loss to the Mets.

Manager Charlie Manuel's frustration was evident after the game. The normally mild-mannered manager challenged a radio talk-show host to a fight. Manuel had to be restrained by hitting coach Milt Thompson at one point.

"We're going to win," Manuel could be heard yelling in his office.

Wow.  I don't even know what to say.  Manuel tried to get in a fight with 610 WIP host Howard Eskin.  You almost feel sorry for Manuel and his wretched squad.  I've got five bucks towards the pay-per-view match.  As a reader pointed out, it's stories like this that make you respect Manuel a little.

Who's got the audio of that one????????

So here's the story I'm getting.  All paraphrased here.  Eskin reportedly asked a number of legit questions but followed them up with more provoking, wise ass type questions.  When he asked a question along the lines of, "Don't you think it would help your players if they saw you fired up a bit more?" and Manuel responded with something like, "I think they see me fired up a lot more than you think.  You can stop by my office later and I'll show you."  After the press conference, Eskin went to his office and Manuel reportedly challenged him to a fight and Milt Thompson had to restrain the coach.

For the record, Manuel isn't the biggest problem this year.  This year against the Mets, the Phillies are roughly 3-36 with men on base.  Where has The Big Man gone?

UPDATE: NBC10 has video of the ordeal.

Gregg Henson Out at 950 WPEN

If Gregg Henson leaves WPEN 950's morning show and nobody is listening, does it make a sound?

Well, apparently he is no longer on the show and has left for greener.. er.. Detroit.

A reader tipped us off to Henson's blog in which he notes:

This morning I left my position at Sports Radio 950 in Philadelphia.  Nicole and I have decided to return to Detroit to operate our own business.  Greater Media in Philadelphia is a phenomenal company and it is very sad to leave the great people at WPEN.  They have been nothing but great as I mulled my decision to return home.

McNabb Drinks Champagne, Rhea Hughes Picks Up The Tab

Domperignon Donovan McNabb and his wife dined at the Water Works near the Philadelphia Art Museum a few weeks back.  The 610 WIP morning show crew also happened to be in the restaurant.  The Inquirer's Michael Klein has the story.

Cataldi says he and tablemates debated sending over a round of drinks - when owner Michael Karloutsos told him, "Mr. McNabb wants to buy you a round."

"Oh, did we look like idiots," Cataldi says, adding that debate then ensued over how to thank him.

Cataldi went over to McNabb's table. "He was very much a gentleman," says Cataldi, "and I was Barney Fife, stammering and getting tongue-tied."

Hughes asked management what the McNabbs were drinking. It was a "nice champagne," says Cataldi - $210 a bottle. "Rhea pays for the whole thing herself, but even that's not enough. She wrote them a note: 'Thanks for keeping us employed.' "

Cataldi says he was later told that McNabb asked: "What does that mean?"

"We couldn't have screwed this up any more than we did," says Cataldi. "I felt like the biggest social moron that ever walked the earth."

That last part isn't surprising at all.  I'm a little perplexed as to how McNabb didn't understand the note.  Maybe he's not as sharp as some of us had thought.  It's also not the least bit surprising Hughes was the one who picked up the tab for McNabb's champagne.

Donovan and Banner Swap Soft Right Hooks

I think it is safe to assume Donovan McNabb was not all that happy when Donte’ Stallworth went north to catch passes for the Patriots. Donte’s departure left Donovan with Reggie Brown as the only current high caliber receiver in the Eagles arsenal. Also worth noting about Brown, in his two seasons with the Birds he has had number 81 and 18 lining up on the other side of the ball. Could Hank Baskett turn into a to level wideout? Sure it’s possible, but it’d be hoping for a whole lot from an undrafted player.

Let’s take a look at the events over the past few days. At a benefit on Wednesday, Donovan spoke his mind and did the unthinkable. Donovan criticized the Eagles.

The signing of Curtis satisfies a plea made by Donovan McNabb at an Autism benefit Wednesday night after the franchise quarterback was asked about losing his top deep threat Stallworth to the Patriots. "I'm just looking for some help that will stay longer than two years," McNabb said. "You look at quarterbacks throughout the league who have had the opportunity to work with the same receivers year after year. I have not had that ability.

"So, we've been just kind of going in and out with different receivers and having some success, but I am looking forward to hopefully getting somebody I can work with for years to come."

Some interesting words. It’s likely just a coincidence that the Birds had Curtis signed the following day. Adding to the uncomfortable atmosphere around the team, Joe Banner felt the need to call out the franchise QB – as if enough people don’t do that already. He basically called McNabb misinformed.

But Banner said the quarterback was not looking at facts. The reigning Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts have had essentially the same receiving corps throughout their run of success with Peyton Manning, but Banner said the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have had success in recent years with changing casts at wide receiver.

''There really isn't a basis there for talking about the continuity [with regards] to receivers,'' said Banner, who also cited statistics that he said show the Eagles have ranked No. 1 among the NFL's 32 teams at retaining players in recent seasons.

Donovan McNabb is the one throwing passes. I think Donovan knows the value of building lasting relationships with his receivers.  Banner calling out McNabb for asking for some receivers he can get to know inside and out is typical of the poor relationship Eagles management seems to have with the players and fans. The Eagles brass can talk all they want and rationalize the hell out of every move they make. It could all be completely accurate, but until we get a Super Bowl in Philadelphia, the fans won’t want to hear it.

GCobb to Charge for Content

Reader Marc writes in:

Did you see GCobb is going to charge $10 a month membership fee?  It's the lead story on GCobb.com.  I like Gary Cobb, but spending $120 a year to get so called exclusive information is a bit steep.  I can go to deadspin.com, the700level.com, and profootballtalk.com and get better insight an analysis regarding the Philly sports team for free than paying exclusive membership fees.  In addition, Gary rarely runs his columns through a spelling and grammar check.  Sometimes, he makes Michael Irvin resemble a Rhodes Scholar and he has that awful stuttering problem that has lasted the past 18 years.

What's next, Dave Spadaro charging Eagles fans for his INSIDE the EAGLES column on philadelphiaeagles.com.  Oops Joe Banner might take that idea and run with it.

I used to dislike G. Cobb on the airwaves, but he's grown on me a bit.  He has a point of view from being a former player that the average fan simply cannot have.  His website seems like a decent blog, not some sort of ESPN Insider or NYTimes Select.  I'd wager that he won't keep his content a paid feature very long.  Only because nobody is going to pay for it.

Terrell Owens on Eskin

On a slow news day, except for Andy's other son Garrett looking at a few misdemeanors, WIP provides us with a podcast of Howard Eskin's call with Terrell Owens yesterday.  Why would Owens accept a call from WIP?  It baffles me, unless of course they pay the man to talk to Eskin.

More from Philadelphia Will Do:

The two discuss their meeting at the Super Bowl -- where T.O. called Eskin a jerk -- like third graders. Owens accuses Eskin of lying. Owens says he didn't make a snide remark about Bill Parcells. T.O. blames the media. Eskin accuses Owens of being mad about Eskin's canned food drive (which was done for T.O., har har!), which leads Owens to say a sentence never uttered before in English: "Who told you I was mad about your canned food drive?" Eskin also offers the lamest bet in history, saying he'll congratulate Owens if he's on the Cowboys roster next year.

Wing Bowl 15

For the most part we haven't covered much Wing Bowl 15 hype, mostly because we haven't been tuned in to the WIP morning show lately and also because we won't be soaking wet in the parking lot of the Wachovia Center at 4:00 AM this year.

For those who need their fill, the odds on who will win the 15th Wing Bowl are posted over at Philly.com.

And for those getting the itch to eat some wings, go try your best to eat as many wings as you can -- virtually, of course.  That's right, the Daily News has a virtual wing eater.  The main event takes place tomorrow morning.  Who's drinking already?

Andy Reid Battles Pat Gillick

That's what makes this city so great.  They're passionate about football.  When it's all said and done, there is nobody more loyal than than Philadelphia people.

                   -Andy Reid on Philadelphia fans

Yesterday evening's drive time radio was full of big name interviews.  610 WIP and 950 WPEN battled it out with interviews of Andy Reid and Pat Gillick both happening at the same time.  Who did you choose?  Well, it doesn't matter because they're both archived for your listening pleasure.  Eskin must have made 37 jokes about Reid's weight.  I don't think I laughed once.  Perhaps the highlight of the Reid interview was when Reid gets in a jab about the Burger King mascot.  Jody Mac's interview style is not surprisingly much more professional.

Some highlights below.   I even typed out some quotes because I wanted to make Gregg and Glenn's job easier.

Andy Reid on 610 WIP with Howard Eskin
Eskinlookslikeatool Andy and Eskin's interview is fairly predictable and goes exactly how any regular Eskin listeners would think.  They spend too much time on the 4th and 15 call, but Reid gives some perspective that makes pretty good sense.

Andy on the 3rd and 1 play, "when Marty called the play, I was on board with it... They did a good job and got outside pressure on us."

Turns out Brian Dawkins was sick for the game on Saturday, "I didn't see that being a factor."

Eskin: do you think your defensive line needs improvement? Reid: "No. What I think we need to do is, Bunk needs to be a year older, Patterson will be a year older, Cole will be a year older, get Kearse back, maybe add somebody in there."  No mention of Juqua Thomas in this portion.  Telling?

On Donovan, "He's working like crazy right now...  He came out today and ran in the pool for the first time and didn't have a limp when he ran in there.  Those are all positive things.  He's focused in right now, he's working his tail off right now."

Andy admits to being wrong a couple times with his first round draft picks, talks about Donte Stallworth and Jeff Garcia's future, and touches on Jabar Gaffney's success in New England.  I'm okay with keeping Avant and Baskett over Gaffney.  The Reid interview is well over a half hour, so put on your headphones and go to town -- if you can stand Eskin that long.

Phillies GM Pat Gillick on Sports Talk 950 with Jody MacDonald
Pat_gillick Gillick mentions if Chris Coste were to make the roster, he would have to play a more versatile role than simply catching and being a bat off the bench, "Unless something goes south, Barajas and Ruiz will probably be the two catchers right now."  I hope Coste finds a way to make this team.  I really do.

Gillick on Ryan Howard's contract, "Right now we're concentrating on the players we have to get done: Utley, Geary, and Myers... like you said, Ryan isn't even arbitration eligible at this point.  We'll start talking to Ryan sometime in February."

Gillick also tries to dress up Pat Burrell's numbers, notes that the back end of the bullpen is one of the bigger concerns, and says that if any pitcher has a chance to come out of spring training to make the roster in the pen it'd be Joe Bisenius.

Pat Gillick talking roster spots with Jody Mac will surely get you excited for the 2007 Phillies.  I'm ready to talk more baseball and less Eagles for the next couple of months.

An Open Letter to Glenn Foley

Dear Glenn,

Glennfoley Being a fellow Boston College grad, it was nice to hear a fellow Eagle on Philly sports talk radio when I first flipped on 950 back when you guys started at WPEN a few months ago.  Then I listened to 15 minutes of you and Gregg Henson speaking.  It's a sad state of sports talk when listening to a morning show on 950 makes you yearn for the ego-maniacal, chauvinistic sounds of Angelo Cataldi.  I might not be able to stand listening to Angelo but I do believe he is very good at what he does.  Morning radio in this city is pathetic for someone interested in hearing about actual sporting news.  What does it take to hear some intelligent sports conversation between 6 and 9 am?  If I wanted to listen to fat men eating, I'd drive down to Tony Luke's.  If I wanted to listen to strippers talk about their talents, I'd get Sirius and listen to Howard Stern.  Why is it so hard to find a Philly guy on a Philly talk radio show?  Gargano is fun, Mike Kearn makes me want to listen to Michael Smerconish -- at least he has Sal Pal on sometimes.  Philly born people don't know how to talk on the radio or something? To be honest, if I'm listening to sports talk radio in the car in the morning I typically flip back and forth between WIP and WPEN when one goes to a commercial.

For the record, I'm a fan of 950, specifically Jody MacDonald's show from 3-7.  Jody is one of the few sports talk personalities I thoroughly enjoy listening to (Macnow, Ray Diddy).  The reason I'm writing this is because of your Folstradamus "character."  Glenn, for the love of God and your own self respect, please never ever do that bit again.  It's quite possibly the worst thing my ears have ever heard.  For those unfamiliar with the bit, 950 makes them available online for a brief period of time.  You can download Folstradamus' 1/12/07 picks for this past weekend over at their site here.

So Glenn, do everyone a favor and keep your quatrains to yourself.  Just talk more sports, please.

Sincerely,
The 700 Level and The City of Philadelphia's Ears

Wing Bowl 15: Philly vs. The World

If there ever was a year a diversion was needed from the Eagles in December, this seems to be the one.  Angelo Cataldi announced this year's theme to Wing Bowl XV today: Philly vs. The World.  What this means is that only 5 of the contestants entered will be allowed to be members of the International Federation of Competitive Eating or IFOCE (the Joey Chestnuts and Sonya Thomases of the world).

This means is that it will be 20 wannabe El Wingador's going up against the 5 top guns of the IFOCE.  There will be cars given away, breasts flashed, and wings up-chucked.  The glorious event will take place on February 2nd, 2007.

Stallworth on Eskin

Dontestallworth Donte Stallworth was a guest on WIP's Howard Eskin show this evening for well over an hour.  Donte comes off as a very bright, open, and interesting guy.  Perhaps the funniest part of the appearance was Stallworth's constant references to Madden.  Donte told Eskin that he traded himself to the Eagles three years ago in the video game.  Any NFL player who trades himself to the Eagles in the virtual world of Madden is alright in my book.

Stallworth made the Eagles organization out to be an amazing company to be a part of and expressed his hopes of extending his career in Philadelphia.  Stallworth hasn't found a home yet in Philly and still lives out of a hotel.  He noted that he talked to Terrell Owens after he was traded to the Eagles from New Orleans and T.O. had nothing negative to say about the Birds.

610 WIP on your Cell

Need more nitwits and dopes in your life?  Can't get enough of Angelo and Eskin?  The Wall Street Journal is reporting that you will soon be able to listen to 610 WIP on your cell phone:

CBS Corp. and Clear Channel Communications Inc. have cut deals with mobile-phone content provider MSpot Inc. to get some of their biggest sports stations onto mobile phones. The stations will be available to Sprint subscribers with Mspot-compatible phones who pay an additional $5.95 per month for the MSpot sports package.

Um.. $5.95 a month to listen to crappy sports talk on your cell phone?  Sounds like a brilliant business model.  Aren't these the same minds that came up with Free FM?

Clear Channel will make eight sports stations available, including Detroit, Houston and Washington, D.C., stations. CBS will provide Chicago's WSCR, New York's WFAN, and Philadelphia's WIP. MSpot's sports package already includes Sporting News radio stations and celebrity sports interviews, news flashes, and interviews with athletes and other big sports personalities.

Martorano to Join Gargano on the Radio

Oh.

Philly.com:

Steve Martorano will start Tuesday on sports-talk WIP-AM (610) with his former midday partner, Anthony Gargano.

The station had a spot to fill since the March 20 firing of Mike Missanelli, two days after an altercation with a producer over a technical snafu on a remote broadcast.

Hey Steve, we don't really want you around anymore because we want to bring in the often controversial Mike Missanelli, so take a hike.

Hey Steve, uh, our plan backfired and Missanelli blew his lid, will you forgive us?
