Andy Reid Needs To Do A Better Job Reading The Injury Report

Update: Start praying, rub your lucky rabbit's foot, whatever. Jason Peters is out, but the Eagles will opt to give King Dunlap the start rather than shift Todd Herremans over to tackle. Dunlap allowed three sacks against the 49ers on Sunday, and was generally ineffective in protection. He'll likely be seeing a lot of Falcons DE John Abraham, who has already registered four sacks this season.

The Eagles received a bit of positive news today. Last night Andy Reid spoke gravely of an elbow injury that could force Brodrick Bunkley to miss to rest of the season, but a second opinion revealed it may not be that bad after all.

Short version, while Bunkley does indeed have ligament damage in his elbow, the severity may not be as bad as first anticipated. It's possible the defensive tackle could play through the injury with some rehab, putting off surgery until the season is over.

For the time being, they're not certain either way. Doctors say some guys have been able to play with similar injuries, and some haven't. It seems like it might come down to what Bunk's threshold for pain is.

In other injury related news, DeSean Jackson left Sunday night's game with a bum knee he sustained while returning a punt in the second half, but the wide receiver will be fine and expects to play this Sunday versus the Falcons. In his weekly interview on Daily News Live, Jackson described the injury as "nothing too serious."
