Things You Haven't Done in a While (~177 Games)
I went to a social function last night and didn't check a sports score on my phone once! Also avoided all sports on television, including highlight shows such as SportsCenter and DNL for an entire day.
What have you done differently since the Phils departed the playoffs?

I watched several hours of television without cheering or using profanities. It was weird.

Actually caught the great Thursday comedy lineup and went to bed at a decent time.

Haven't clicked the Phillie icon on my Blackberry.

I am finally making it down the shore striper fishing this weekend! The Phillies playoffs kill striper season ...but its a great problem to have!

Agreed, I too swear a lot less all of a sudden.
I also went to bed at a reasonable hour (sober) and went to the gym this morning. My body is confused.

got a full nights sleep

I'm not hungover today.

I've also noted a change in my psychological state. I, too, no longer swear as much and I don't have that nervous/excited feeling during the day about the upcoming playoff game. There's just a more overall calmness I have with not having to worry about what our Fightins are going to do this evening. And I did go to bed before mindnight last night for the first time in about 7 or 8 weeks.
I can also start focusing on my 1st love now...the Flyers. I have almost completely neglected them during this Phillies run. Maybe I'll start looking for a female friend too...another thing that was severly neglected in the last month and a half.
Cole was right...it is emotionally draining.

I sulked a lot more than I have in a while. I don't recommend sulking.

I was happy to have some nights without sports. Oddly enough, had my blood pressure checked and it is apparently very high when it never has been in my whole life. Maybe due to all the Yankee fans at work?
I should start watching golf.

I actually went to bed at a respectable hour.
Posted by: Marc | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 02:28 PM
Had something other than hot dogs and beer for dinner
Posted by: Mike A | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 02:31 PM
I wasnt "down" until I had to go to work today and had to see all the yankees fans walking towards the parade - thats the first time losing hit me.
but yes, overall its a huge "relief" (maybe not the best word) to have the season over and the chance to do something other than refresh espn on a phone or watch only baseball on tv.
this whole football thing, with only one game a week is a nice change.

I was able to get all my classwork done, still get 8 hours of sleep, and wake up not hungover. it was all very strange. Still, I'd take the hangover and declining grades any day if it meant an alternate outcome. Its going to take awhile to readjust.

Thought about how awesome it was just to have Brett Myers strike out Wily Mo Pena and get to the playoffs.
I put a perspective on the past three seasons that I couldn't do when this season got started and Ibanez had me thinking repeat.
...Oh, and I put on a knit cap instead of a Philly-related hat to go out. (It's 32 degrees in Ithaca, New York)

My body was actually getting used to irregular meals, eleveated stress levels, and copious amounts of beer. I went to bed at at 11:00 last night and got a solid 8 hrs sleep, and I swear to god I feel more tired today than I have in a while. Its like I was hungover because I wasn't...hungover. huh.

I actually gave two shits about the Eagles.
Posted by: ThinkRed | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Avoided all television and actually spoke to my girlfriend. Relationships do suffer during baseball playoffs.

Hmmm...it's nice to get a good nice rest and my liver is seeing better days ahead BUT i feel as if i broke up with someone. They used to be in my life and now suddenly everything went quiet...cold turkey style!! Life will be back in 96 days!! GOO PHILLIES!!

Got decent sleep for once, and didn't have to worry about a baseball game in over nine months. Very much like you, Enrico, I couldn't watch any national sports network either. Didn't want to listen to anyone kiss the Yankees ass yesterday. Give it time, they'll forget who won the series in a short time. Wait, it's the Yankees, so no they won't. Figured that happened to everyone.
Posted by: Kevin | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 03:22 PM
Yea, it was definitly weird. Went to bed around 10, which is wen most games would start in the NLDS. Cant wait to do all again next season.
Posted by: Emilio | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 03:30 PM
the only silver lining is that the shallow phils fans are gone, now its just us to discuss all things off season. goodbye bandwagon warriors, leave 2010 to the diehards.

Actually wore a shirt that didn't have a Phillies logo on it and for some reason even cared if temple was going to win last night.

Went straight to sleep at 8PM and woke up at 8AM. It was glorious.
But going to sleep at 8PM was because I had walked 8 miles the previous day and rode my bike for the first time all over Philly yesterday because of the damn Septa strike. I can't catch a break.
Posted by: Joe | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 03:43 PM
I slept 8 hours I woke up feeling ok I can watch TV without having to worry about shots everytime the phillies hit a home run(I miss you jager). I GF for longet then 10 minutes. I am allowing people to stand/sit where they want now that karma won't be effected.

was able to enjoy my food. yelled at my kids less. kept having to remind myself that there was no next game to play out in my mind.
ain't sports great.

Haven't watched ESPN. Stopped living in a permanent hangover. Able to do schoolwork now. Have started to return girlfriends texts/calls.
Posted by: Sean | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 04:12 PM
Passed out around 10PM. Went a full work day without checking baseball related sites every 10 minutes and looking for updated comments/videos.
Posted by: DP | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 04:19 PM
slept.
enjoyed almost nonexistant texting on my phone.
Posted by: jd | Friday, November 06, 2009 at 04:25 PM
Strangest things are definitely watching something non-sports on TV (don't have to worry about that tonight with the Flyers on), going to bed at a respectable hour, and actually giving the Flyers and Eagles some attention now. The Phillies obviously took priority, but now I feel like I am becoming reacquainted with two lost friends in the Eagles and Flyers.

I'm with mostly everyone else. More sleep and sober weeknights, for a change. Increase in cranky mood though. Let's go Flyers!

Noticed that my DVR is smoking it's so full. Checked how many texts I sent last month (NB: don't do that, just wait for the bill to dickslap you). Had a conversation with my wife about what we're going to do this weekend. Sigh. It involves leaves.

I dunno I woke up having the shakes. it could be phillies withdraw or the lack of drinking now. you pick

Took a stab at baking cookies.

remembered I had a girlfriend... using the off-season to make it up to her (around the Flyers and Eagles, of course)

"Of course, of all the things we ever did, besides baseball, going to the pool is what (Benny Rodriguez) tolerated best."
Personally, I remembered I have a door that leads to an outside world.
