DEWEY BEATS TRUMAN, MOTHERFUCKERS

I hope someone with sweet photoshopping skills does something with this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2008-01/34569547.jpg

FAIL!!

EPIC FAIL.

If we needed any more proof that the powers-that-be want a Yankees-Dodgers World Series, here it is.

When will they learn?

Ah, you wonderful bastards. I had just facebooked this myself. Fantastic.

Did someone ask for a Photoshopping? http://twitpic.com/m7pvy

I just find this so...insulting.

Anyone hear Ron Darling say that once the game got to Broxton that it was over?

He said in the seventh that the Dodgers needed "just five more outs to seal the game." I hate Mets announcers and TBS announcers, and I hate Ron Darling.

I'm not normally one to criticize announcers because for the most part I think they do a decent job, but that's a terrible thing to say and not professional at all. And he was wrong. What an idiot.

Mikevil, thank you good sir. Thank you.

You start to wonder how dramatic the wins have to be to get some respect from the rest of the world.

Mike H. A walkoff grand slam to win the NLCS when down by 3; but only if the ball hits a fire hydrant causing it to spray water on a building filled with puppies, kittens and babies putting out a fire and saving them all. Of course, it would only matter if all of the babies had on baby Yankees uniforms and the puppies were all being trained to be seeing-eye dogs to help wounded war vets. I won't ask for a photoshop of this scenario.

@Bill - You forgot the gunfire.

I understand that in the web world, you have to have this shit in the can. I have a great picture of Mets 2007 NL East Champion t-shirts. But what an epic fail.

@MikeH: please share that pic!

I have the memory of a fruit fly, but didn't Darling say something about how well Broxton was gripping the ball right before he beaned Ruiz?

Jocksniffer thanks for the picture

Christ, when will Phillies fans stop with this "the world hates us" attitude? You won, OK? It looked like you wouldn't and MLB screwed up. I'm sure none of you every screwed up. You won a World Series last year and you're headed in that direction again. Get over it.

@Me
As a web designer myself I can see MLB posting that as soon as the second out was recorded so it was ready to rock as soon as the last out was recorded. Understood. However, watching nationally broadcasts games is so frustrating as a Phillies fan. Announcers are always more excited when the opposing team scores, almost sound sullen when the Phils do; constant "That would have been a fly ball in any other ball park" comments; It just wears on you, man. I understand they are not supposed to be biased since they are national announcers but it never seems to come across that way. I was glad I was only watching couldn't hear the game 5 pt 2 last year to hear how disappointed Joe Buck was we won.

poor Me.

I think everybody needs to chill out a little bit on this "the world hates us" attitude. I get it that we as philly fans have a terrible reputation that is not always deserved, but mlb posting this article before the game ended was not an insult. they want to be able to post a story as soon as a game ends, and somebody at the website screwed up. can't we at least take one day to simply celebrate the win before we go back to accusing the world of conspiring against us and our teams?

I think it's hilarious that Ron Darling has a job...
how did he get a job as an baseball on-air commentator with a LISP??????

and why is his name super porn-star-ish
RON DARLING
What the hell kinda name is that

@Andrew
I heard that! and did a double take, and my boyfriend turned around and wrote a very harsh note to TBS about their announcers. The whole NLCS has been poorly announced. what ever happened to my unbiased commentating? it's sad, and darling SUCKS!

>>The whole NLCS has been poorly announced.

Like Chip Carey's call as the game winning run scored? "Here's the throw to the plate!" THERE WAS NO THROW TO THE PLATE! It didn't even make it to the infield!

I 100% agree about the announcers, they're terrible. TBS should have their "broadcast rights" revoked. Awful

TBS is Dogsht, they commented after the game about the fans still hanging at the park, screaming BEAT LA : something to the effect of "beat LA?, you got the win tonight, yeah so put a sock in it" pUT A EFFIUNG SOCK IN IT!!!?? wtf?!

when is someone going to tell chip caray that "fisted" is not a legitimate baseball term, and that his fixation on using it as such is creepy?

TBS is a "Totally Bogus Station"

This is a prime example of how much the MLB wants LA to win. When the emphasis on ratings is greater than the actual baseball being played. And as for TBS- go fuck yourself. I cant wait for Chip Carey and the rest of that broadcast team to stop talking. Carey is awful, just another announcer that got his job because daddy had it, example: Joe Buck, Kenny Alberts (Todd Kalas being an exception of course). Id rather Have Will Ferrell, impersonating Chip's dad Harry Carey, calling games, now that would be awesome.

I almost lost my mind when Darling said the game was over once Broxton got the ball. What a short memory some people have. If I am not mistaken, the Phillies ripped Broxton last year in game 4 of the NLCS (creepy coincidence)to get the win leaving him with the loss. These announcers suck.

At least Kenny Albert is tolerable; I don't mind Joe Buck either. But, Chip Carey is one of the worst announcers in baseball (behind the GAWDAWFUL "Voice of the New York Yankees" John Sterling).

Though, Chip Carey wasn't as annoying as his late father, Skip Carey, who Phillies Nation may recall was the TV voice of the Atlanta Braves ... on TBS. Skip Carey sounded like he should've been a crooked New Jersey politician instead of a broadcaster.

And speaking of announcers, what was up with the suits worn by sideline dork Craig Sager? Is he holding court at a piano bar in Sea Isle after the game, or is he heading out to his other job as a used car salesman in Thorndale? Geez...

The TBS crew makes you appreciate how lucky we are to have our broadcast team.

TBS screwed up, their credibility is tarnished and for news medium that is catastrophic. They need no help beating themselves up about that. Someone’s ass is in a sling this morning for sure.

On a side note: Hating on Philadelphia fans isn’t going to help improve their attitudes maybe those of you crying about it should man up. Trust me when I say it’s not our fans that need to get over going to the series!

Bottom line: PHILS WON! The series is NOT tied.

PHILADELPHIA is BEAST!

Philly fans are no different than anyone else. Naturally a few hotheads will rant that MLB and TBS are biased. Obviously, someone at MLB made a mistake and sent the lead out by accident. If you hated the Phillies you would be less likely to post that intentionally, not more likely, since it has already been passed around by us Philly fans with great glee. And the TBS announcers aren't biased. They're just neutral, and we Philly fans, like all fans, are so used to hearing our local homer announcers that we always think national announcers are biased. On the other hand, I do agree that they are remarkably lousy.

@Phil

You are dead right. I live in Boston, everyone here thinks the announcers are biased against the Red Sox. My girlfriend is a Yankee fan, she thinks the announcers are biased against them. It's the absence of knowledge and "homerism" in the announcing that makes it seem like they are anti-Phillies. TBS is terrible, but everyone thinks national announcers are against their team.

Don't give MLB.com too much slack. Assuming they have a good content management system for their website, it literally takes one click to make the website live. They could have waited for the 3rd out and posted the Dodgers win the second it occurred.

@cc

I hear what you are saying and agree to some extent, but Chip Caray has been absolutely awful this entire series, like making me actually excited about the possibility of Buck & McCarver next round.

The Philies played a lot of games on Fox & ESPN this year and the national announcers were no where near as bad as these guys.

It's hard to take Darling even remotely serious. Buck Martinez has been pretty solid, but Chip is just killing me. Like yelling at the TV every inning killing me.

I honestly stopped watching at the beginning of the eighth last night because I couldn't take it anymore.

Guess we should be used to it by now, doesn't make it any less frustrating.

And @ whomever "philly" is: take a step back and literally fuck your own face.

Every day, someone else who would never complain about announcers, or has no real experience watching sports, but follow along because everyone around them at work watches, comes in and complains how the TBS people are terrible.

My mom said she enjoyed the radio more. My wife complained that they seem to not say the things about the phillies that they say about the dodgers. The woman at work behind me from NY said she can't believe how biased the sound. My program manager who always says he doesn't want to hear about bad announcing came in saying, "Those guys are downright awful. Could the sound like they're trying to talk up good things to happen to the dodgers, and sound more disappointed when things go the Phillies way?"

But whatever, it only adds to the pleasure of winning despite all the experts predictions and assertions.

They jinxed us by saying in the 4th it was a no-hitter...then the dodgers get a hit....Then, i almost fell over when he said that the game would be over with 5 more outs, because none of the Phillies cam his Broxton....HAHAHAHA...we have the last laugh!!!

"Don't give MLB.com too much slack. Assuming they have a good content management system for their website, it literally takes one click to make the website live. They could have waited for the 3rd out and posted the Dodgers win the second it occurred."

They can post is the second it occurs, but it wouldn't go live for a few minutes. Most large sites are mirrored and cached and it takes several minutes for the main pages to update. Otherwise it would cause an incredible load on the server.

@ Boova

I'm with you, can we delete the comment from Philly? It's not very insightful or of any value other than pointing out the kind of person he/she is.

Did I hear Chip Caray say as Chooch was scoring the winning run, "and here's the play at the plate!" when the ball was still in the second baseman's hands, or is it just me?

The announcers are horrible! They have nothing good to say about the Phillies. They were speechless when Rollins had that last hit of the game. If it had been the Dodgers they would have been saying how the Dodgers always come back, blah, blah, blah...Philly is like Rodger Dangerfield... we never get any respect... even after our 2008 World Series win... The Phillies and their fans are the best! Go Fightin' Phils!

Am I the only one who thought Sager sounded like he'd been hitting the sauce during his postgame interviews? He seemed to be having trouble stringing his sentences together.

i just wish that the radio broadcast wasn't on a 20 second delay. or there where audio options. the tbs people really do suck.

I am not a phillies fan(Go Angels) and as a neutral observer I agree the broadcast team stinks and they appear to lean toward the left coast.

HAVE FUN NOW BECUASE YOU GOT NO SHOT AT THE AL THIS YEAR.

Thank god. I thought I was crazy for thinking the guys on TBS blow. I'm not even going to get into their blatant bias for the thought of a dodgers/yankees world series, but just the mere fact that they are terrible play by play announcers. They can't fill the downtime between pitches and when the new batters are coming up at all. Ron Darling should be getting paid in potato chips because he is horrific with a microphone in his hands. I think these guys are so bad I'm actually excited for Joe Buck and I hate him with a passion.

TBS - Terribly Broadcasted Series

Go Phils!!!

tom you got not shot at getting laid if you're going to act like a cornball. all caps doesnt make you hard

I just thought holy crap when i saw that on mlb.com...

right after I caught J-Roll's walkoff and started cheering

fuck you to hell mlb for your fucking jinx!!!!!!

If everyone hates the national announcers so much why not mute the TV and turn on the radio? It seems like a non-issue to me. National guys will always be going with the national plotlines about big names-Manny, Torre, Dodgers, etc.

Anyone else get ticked when TBS calls the Dodger homeruns "magical" and "majestic" (Manny game 1 that had them STILL behind, and Kemp last night). Ridiculous.

For those who are arguing that MLB and the TV networks want the Dodgers to win because of ratings, please read this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/sports/baseball/20sandomir.html

LA is losing out to Philly in the TV ratings department as well.

TBS = This Broadcasting Sucks

For all those saying that us Phillies fans are always having a pity party, that is NOT true, all we want is a little RESPECT from all the announcers instead of always being so biased, is that too much to ask? if you are a friggin yankees fan you would want the same respect! so shut up and stop being so jealous of our city :) Go Phillies!
