Audio: Method Man Featuring Ricky Watters - "It's in the Game" (1995)
After our post this morning about Ricky Watters infamous "For Who, For What?" comment back in 1995, Dan McQuade sent along this MP3 of the former Eagles running back rapping with Method Man on the 1996 album called NFL Jams. As DMac points out, "One of Ricky Watters lines is, of course, 'Who it be? It be I, the na with the chinky eyes.' Every time there is a sports/music crossover, it reminds me why there shouldn’t be sports/music crossovers." The verb (and noun, according to Running Watters) conjugating goodness below. [audio below]

Was this album an official NFL product? Because there's some stuff that I don't think Tags would approve. But Ricky can lay it down, yo.

While I generally agree, there are some *decent* sports rapper songs out there:
Shaq and Biggie "You Can't Stop the Reign" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWw2PHQEWTg
Shaq, Black Thought and Common "In the Sun" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCH5FUpjdTU
Jewelz (Iverson) "Last Night" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL6gyJI9Dw4 (at least the beat and hook are pretty catchy)
and even Cedric Ceballos feat Nate Dogg "Flow On" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1945d_cedric-ceballos-flow-on-feat-warren_music
so while you're right 99% of the time, there are a few instances where some guest MCs and professional production can turn an athlete into a semi-legit musician for about 3 minutes at a time.

You know, I have to say, that wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard. The lyrics aren't great, but Ricky spit it out okay.
