Jayson Werth Added to All Star Roster

The Phillies just announced that OF Jayson Werth will be added to the NL All Star roster. Werth, who is replacing the injured Carlos Beltran, will join Utley, Howard, Ibanez, and Victorino to represent the reigning WFC quite well in St. Louis. It also makes all four of the Phillies 20+ homer guys All Stars. You know your team's outfield is pretty good when every single one of them makes the mid-summer classic. Congrats, J-Werth.

So happy for Jayson. He's such a consistent hitter and a great fielder.

Werth's wife is a ten as well.

one of the most underrated players in the NL. hes going to rob someone of a homer late in the game then hit a walk off to end the all star game.

huge FLA series coming out of the break

I love it, these are the perks of winning the World Series. The manager can bring in his guys and Werth deserves it.

Jason's Mom is a 10 as well....smokin'

...and this is bound to piss off a lot of SF fans.

Its 2:30 and still not mentioned by WIP..Someone wake up Da Cuz!

fuck the san fran fans

If San Fransisco wants their guys in there, they should win the World Series...or at least make it. Jayson Werth is very deserving.

I hope we piss off SF fans, and Mets fans, and anybody else.

This is one of the perks of being the WFC's...

woooo!! I thought he deserved it more than Shane did, but now theyre both on, so im good.

A lot of the chulos out in Dodger-land are going to be upset as well.

All I can say is awesome.

Any word on Ibanez yet?

jim-

the la fans left with a month left to go in all star voting.

still stuck in traffic, tho'.

chris coste has been shit canned.

Werth only hits about .225 in Busch Stadium in his career. I thought Matt Kemp might have an argument there... but he only hits .176.

makes sense to have our players play for our homefield advantage

oh, snap! nice work, J-Dub.

Charlie is gonna get shit, but you guys are right - when you are the WFC, you get to make these kind of calls. Sandoval is having a great season - I hope someone else bails (like they always do) and he gets his shot.

If not, eff em. Werth is playing out of his mind right now and is rock that is driving this team - he is the one that stepped up when Raul needed time off - I'm excited to watch them both together now that Werth has heated it up.

Congrats Jason - I am liking you more as a player every day...

I feel like Charlie would have been better off picking one of the other "Final Vote" players, but good for Werth.

The best way to make all that trash talk go way is for Jayson to get out there and drive in some runs or hit one out of the park.

One of the best...
"RealSportsFansLiveHere (7/10/2009 at 4:14 PM)Why do Giants fans care who goes to the All Star Game? It's to determine home field in the WS and they have no chance. Might as well send all the Phillies since they will be playing for the title again."

HAHAHA my hatred for the NL west is growing stronger everyday

well done jason werth...well done

we only have 3 positions that didn't make the all star game... SS, 3B, and Catcher. Thats pretty impressive.
