Could The Sixers Move Dalembert to Houston?
With the unfortunate news that Yao Ming, the pride of China, could potentially never play another game in the NBA, the Houston Rockets may all of a sudden be in need of a center. Rumors circulating around the Internet says a Sammy Dalembert and Willie Green for Tracy McGrady deal could be a possibility. Mr. Rabbit is quite excited about the prospect of McGrady's expiring contract coming to the Illadelph.
From the Delaware News Journal:
And if that trade never comes to fruition, the Sixers can always look into deporting the duo to Mexico.

GET THIS DEAL DONE! I would even throw in Iguodala if they'd go for that. He is good but has his limitations and, with him around, there is no place for Thad to play except 6th man. Get the expiring contract and do it.

My Fucking God that is frightening.
Posted by: Hummer | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 12:34 PM
wow that would be GREAT, unlikely though lets all be serious
Posted by: Jeff | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 12:38 PM
No fucking way this will ever happen.
Posted by: Ben | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 12:53 PM
There's no way this could possibly happen. Why would Houston make this trade? It would actually make more sense to me if Yao was coming back, but was very limited in his minutes and/or would be out for most of the season. Then they'd have a legit center (Yao) and a horribly over payed but capable backup in Dalembert. They can't possibly think they can replace Yao with Dalembert and still contend in the West, right?

i HATE that stupid fucking rabbit. it has NOTHING to do with the sixers, philadelphia, or basketball (i guess hip-hop is marginally basketball-ish).
BRING BACK BIG SHOT.

I am with Poster nutbag 100%. Can we include hip-hop in this trade. Hip hop sucks.
Posted by: T.J. | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:02 PM
i would trade dalembert for a ham sandwich.
Posted by: millertime | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:03 PM
@millertime - i wish 'bert had eaten a few ham sandwiches while he was here.
Posted by: Poster Nutbag | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:05 PM
Hip-Hop should be traded straight to hell, IMO
Posted by: Hummer | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:07 PM
I would want this trade to happen, because than t-mac will be off the books at the end of next year, and the sixers could land a better star than T-Mac
on the other hand, T-Mac wont be ready till play after the ASG in Febraury due to his knee surgery
Posted by: matt | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:10 PM
If the Sixers want to be consistent and continue on with mediocrity then yes, make this trade. Oh, and JW, I'm gona go out on a limb here and say your a dumbass who knows nothing about basketball. There is no reason to trade Iggy for Mr. Injury and the King of underachieving. If the sixers want to make this trade they might as well just give the money theyd pay to T-Mac to Brand. Better to have one extremely over priced year long injury waiting to happen than 2. and for crying out loud, give sammy some credit. he might not be able 2 score like you want from a guy with that money, but he has turned himself into a top defender. terrible idiotic trade, has billy king written all over it, and thats scary because he isnt in charge anymore.
Posted by: Kyle A | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:12 PM
@matt
I firmly believe that T-Mac is done, and I've never really been a fan of him anyway. That said, this is all about his expiring contract -- if there's a basketball player attached to it, that's gravy.
Posted by: zfg | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:14 PM
Even if T-Mac never played a minute for the Sixers, this would be an amazing deal. If he came back at any level of effectiveness, trade of the century as far as I'm concerned.
Seems unlikely, all things considered.

please take that stupid mascot with sammy
Posted by: conboy | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:20 PM
@ Kyle A
If they don't make this trade, they're still stuck in mediocrity.
The deal isn't as much about landing McGrady as it is taking on his expiring contract. He becomes a free agent, and the Sixers have the cap space again to add the pieces that might actually make this team a contender.

@Kyle A
For the record, I do not support trading Iguodala and Dalembert for McGrady, but Dalembert + Green + draft picks for McGrady would be the best trade ever. The Sixers could take out the trash, and land a bit expiring contract. They would be a little worse this year, but it's not like they are going to contend anyway. And for what it's worth, Dalembert is not a very good defender -- it just seems that way because he sometimes blocks shots and is obviously not a scorer.

i think daryl morey likes gortat >>>> dalembert. good try though lol
Posted by: Shawn | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:38 PM
A fairer market value for both teams would be Dalembert for draft picks AND ham sandwiches.

i am not familiar with this big shot character and am unable to find a photo.
Posted by: will | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 01:49 PM
you can see video of him here on my blog: http://6kagans.blogspot.com/2007/08/big-shot-is-only-true-sixers-mascot.html
oddly enough, it is of big shot dancing like michael jackson.

@will
That's because Big Shot sucks also. Just hire one of the Ben Franklin impersonators to be the Sixers' mascot.
Posted by: Estebomb | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 02:12 PM
can that stupid rabbit moonwalk? i don't think so.
Posted by: Poster Nutbag | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 02:20 PM
Big Shot looks like something Jim Henson came up with whilst drunk, then when he sobered up he just laughed at it and said 'this is the stupidest fucking thing ive ever done' and threw it away. Seriously, what the fuck is that thing supposed to be?
Now, having said that, it IS far less creepy than Hip-Hop
Posted by: Hummer | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 02:29 PM
Are you kidding me? This thing is terrifying.

first off, sammy really showed heart last season and i mean as much as hes been overpaid, if he was paid the same amount as say a reggie evans, i think he woulda been worth every penny. unfortunately, his contract is 302930923 times what it should be (in length and $$). GIT HIM THE FUCK OUT. and keep tracy outta here too. lets get kyle lowry back.
Posted by: johnny | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 03:03 PM
it is and it isnt. Hip-Hop looks like it was raised from the depths of hell for the sole purpose of terrifying the city of Philadelphia on a regular basis.
Big Shot, on the other hand, is just a weird looking Muppet reject that *could* freak out a child or two.
Posted by: Hummer | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 03:04 PM
What is hip-hop about Hip-Hop? He looks more white trash.

big shot was some oafy, lovable dude who liked to have fun.
hip-hop haunts your dreams.
'nuff said.
i am going to start a letter writing campaign to the sixers called "get rid of that stupid fucking rabbit (and while you are at it, please stop playing music during games)"
Posted by: Poster Nutbag | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 03:18 PM
Dalembert, Green, Hip Hop, and millertime's ham sandwich for McGrady.
But that's my final offer...
Posted by: river327 | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 03:50 PM
@johnny
they could have had lowry, instead they selected thabo sefolosha and traded him for rodney carney. the second of 3 straight first round picks spent on a sf.

Andre Miller to blazers for Steve blake

I would definitely have someone follow Dalembert to Mejico and like jack everything they have so they can't come back into the country.
Posted by: TheGSF | Wednesday, July 01, 2009 at 06:58 PM
kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit.
HipHop blows. Thats not a mascot, its a douche bag running around in a tricked out bugs bunny costume.

The problem is, half the people commenting don't understand the significance of an expiring contract in the NBA. Perhaps it would help to elaborate that the Sixers dont see McGrady as the future of the organization. They see him being gone in a year, and hence having both Dalembert and McGradys money off the books as the future.
