The Phillies Have "Spoken"
And they've said a whole lot of nothing.
In a call with reporters, Ruben Jr. and Scott Proefrock blew a lot of wind. There was maybe one answer that added some new information. On there still being a possibility of JC appealing the suspension, "Not that I'm aware of," Proefrock said. "That process has played itself out. That's why the announcement was made. That's my understanding."

Please take the time and read the quotes of our spineless GM.
Thanks Puss Jr!! You really backed your player on this one.

Way to have your boys back, you tool. F-U Amaro! I move that between the sixth inning of every home game, fans chant 'Free JC' until he's back.

This is one of the reasons why I would have preferred Arbuckle instead of Amaro. Amaro is a company boy who toes the line and is such a pansy. ESPN is reporting JC will not appeal. He should get a lawyer as fast as possible and break the arbitration decision rules MLB has hammered players with for years.

Absolutely unbelievable that Amaro has refused to back his player on this one. What a clown.

the ovation he gets on his first night back is going to be epic.

Aaaaaand that's strike number one against the players/fans in his tenure as GM.

the phillies are in a lose, lose situation here
they are a part of the MLB, a club
they can not come out in defense of a player that their league has chosen to suspend, especially a situation this sensitive. the politics surrounding something like this are thick, i am sure, so we cant jump to the conclusion that they arent trying to help their player, just because in PUBLIC they are saying something else.
look what happens to loud mouths like marc cuban and even ed snider to agree (back in the day), all these owners and clubs make their money as part of the league and the phillies really cant say anything publicly that would make them look like they are going against the league, it isnt in the best interest and i would imagine that behind the scenes they are working like hell, if they believe Romero, because losing him hurts their performance on the field

They can easily jew them down to 20 games with the right approach.

@ LeRoy:
"jew them down"
...is that the technical term?
Posted by: MikeY | Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at 04:16 PM
in other news, Ruben Amaro spoke at the Holucost museum earlier this month:
"What happend was unfortunate. The jews will just have to deal with it and we'll go from there."

"Jew them down"
Who are you, my racist grandmother? I didn't know she reads the blogs.
But seriously, I agree with theKrisheim on this one. Amaro and the club are a bit between a rock and a hard place on this one.

The Phillies are going to fucking suck The Mets are going 2 go all the way this year And fuck all Phillies' fans
Posted by: BRENDEN | Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at 05:16 PM
meanwhile, brenden offers no rational opinion. I also like how he substitutes the number 2 for to, as if he was 12 and not very clever. very mature, kiddo. hows that bankrupt team of yours feeling during this long, long off season?

For the record, we were gonna delete Leroy's comment but left it up to make an example of the kind of comments we don't appreciate around here.
No more of that, please.

BUD SELIG CAN ROT IN HELL.. AND TAKE HIS HOME FIELD FOR THE WORLD SERIES ADVANTAGE FROM THE ALL STAR GAME WITH HIM.

What a gutless approach by Amaro. While the Phillies have little to stand on, a few words of support and the assurance that they will be looking into all of their options would be nice.
It's like they are intentionally trying to kill all of the good feelings floating around the city about the Phillies.
Posted by: Gaze | Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at 06:07 PM
The Phillies don't care. As an organization, they are like cuckholded husbands--complete wusses in the face of Selig and MLB. Look how they handled Game 5 in the WS; can you imagine Steinbrenner just bending over and taking it like that?

@ Leroy:
You're not Danny DeVito.
