This. Is. Awesome. Eagles DESTROYING Cowboys
For the first 30 minutes of football, the Eagles played like a team that deserved to be in the playoffs and put the Dallas Cowboys season out of commission early.
Donovan McNabb put on a show by making almost every pass asked of him, going 11-18 while tossing 2 TDs and sneaking for another in the first half. The loft to DeSean was perfectly pretty.
The following 30 minutes was a victory lap of sorts for the defense. Heck, even Chris Clemons got in on the action with a 73 yard fumble return. The man who forced that fumble? None other than Brian Dawkins who did it again on the following drive with another forced fumble that was returned for a TD. Joselio Hanson picked that one up and strolled 90 yards or so for six.
Eagles famed radio broadcaster Merrill Reese put it nicely after Clemons TD, "We are not drunk. We are totally serious. It's Eagles 34, Dallas 3."
We're not drunk either. The Eagles are putting an asswhooping on the Cowboys and will head to Minnessota next week to take on the Vikings in the playoffs.
Let's hope this same team shows up because they frigging owned Dallas.
UPDATE: Here's the video of Jeff Lurie slapping a women in the face in a failed high five attempt.

Did any of you catch Jeffrey Lurie hitting his wife in the face when trying to high five her? Pretty awesome...

Sometimes I would feel bad for the losing team getting their asses whooped like this.
This is not one of those times.
I do not want to hear any fraud cowboy fans until that team wins another superbowl. Not on WIP, 950, in person.
Buy all the pacmans, tank johnsons, roy williams, TO, etc. this team has done NOTHING. Nothing since the Aikman/Smith era and they consistently put this slop out there that cannot win anything in the clutch.
The cowboys are FRAUDS and so are there fans in Philly that have never stepped foot in Dallas.

This is one of the most enjoyable Birds games I have ever watched. I still can't believe this team made the playoffs... but who cares. I think we'll actually be a favorite going up to Minnesota. GO BIRDS!!!!

Philly.com headlines:
"Is this the beginning of the end for McNabb?"
I'm going with, No!
"Eagles are at a fork in the road"
Yup, and they just picked up that forked and stabbed Dallas in the eye with it.
LOL
E - A - G - L - E - S.... EAGLES!!!!

Ugggghhhh. Now Lurie will use this as an excuse to let Andy The Liar and Donovan McSoftee keep their jobs instead of spending money to bring in a real winner. Horrible day for true Eagles fans. Get ready for ten more years of mediocrity!

@BadMotherFutley: I know that using proper grammar is a lost cause when it comes to Why Can't Us, but I think it should actually be Why Can't Us Too?

I just got home from work, I was fortunate enough to remember my radio, so I could listen to the game on WYSP. I swear, by the second half I had an emotional high! It was freaking sweet, I was excited, smiling, just all around happy.
The Eagles Defense was beastly today.
McNabb was good today.
Correll Buckhalter was incredibly explosive today, just as I always rant he is.
The Eagles were amazing today! Best late Christmas present ever!

Wildcard, bitches!

@jd--I watched this entire game and still can't even really conceive of how this victory came about.
And tally me as another vote for a green Why Can't Us Too? shirt.

Wow! For a season like this one I couldn't really ask for a better end result.
We kicked the Cockroach's ass and made the Playoffs despite being a ridiculously long shot.
I don't know how this happened but I am ecstatic!
Posted by: Mitch | Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 09:47 PM
I am not sure who called it but I remember a few weeks back in the comment section somebody calling this game would be a winner takes all and predicted eagles win big. Whoever you are kudos
Posted by: themajor | Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 10:06 PM
I live in Dallas and had to endure all the shit talk all season after our week 2 loss. But I promised everyone at work that we'd come in the last game of the year with the playoffs on-the-line for both teams and just SMOKE their asses.
Just call me Nasty-dameus. Tomorrow will be an absolutely glorious day of shit talking. Let's go Phillies, Eagles, Flyers. We need the Tri-Fecta this year to make up for the 100 seasons.
Posted by: Brandon | Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 11:31 PM
It should be "Why Can't Us Again?!"
Posted by: take it deep | Monday, December 29, 2008 at 12:10 AM
There really aren't words to describe a win like this. I'll break it into its three distinct parts:
The offense came out strong and got some big 3rd down conversions and 2 big penalties
Dawkins snaps the collective spine of the entire Dallas organization with his first strip.
The D goes on the warpath against the lifeless, moping Cowboys.
We make the playoffs.
The moral of the story: Resign B Dawk. Even if you are giving him 2 years and the final year is just him on the sidelines as a player coach, its worth it. The guy comes up with big plays in big games (this game and the Pittsburgh game come to mind), even if he's lost a step. He never says die and he's worth ever overpaid penny.

For you folks who didn't believe, you didn't learn anything from the Phils over the past two years. Anything can happen out there, remember that next time you come on here and say "the season's over" and "we're done" like a broken record. Steelers and Giants were wild cards too.
BELIEVE!!!

@cwd: Absolutely dismantling the Cowboys to gain a playoff spot is a "horrible day for true Eagles fans"? WTF? Beating the Cowboys is never, NEVER a horrible thing. Reid's problem has been bad coaching decisions mixed with lopsided playcalling. That was non-existent yesterday in as critical a game as there is, so maybe he starting to come around (please?) And....you know what, screw this. The Eagles won, played fantastic, are in the playoffs and I don't need to sit here and justify that to some douchebag naysayer. Have fun being miserable about your team being in the playoffs. True fan my ass.
Posted by: shedd | Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:28 AM
This is right up there with 4th and 26 and the nfc championship game over the falcons for the best moments as an eagles fan. It may have been on a smaller stage, however anytime a great Eagles victory includes TO being his assbag self yelling at people on the sideline and Romo laying on the field crying, it might push it to the top.
Posted by: sam | Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:25 AM
If you noticed, 3 stadiums closed this year. Not one of those teams in those stadiums went to the playoffs. And all 3 are teams I hate: Yankees, Mets, Cowboys. Something to be said for poetic justice.
I flipped back and forth for the early games, just praying for the chips to fall. I was never more excited for Oakland and Houston to win as I was yesterday.
Eagles are going to dismantle the Vikes.
