Get Your Phillies 2008 World Championship Santa Hat

Economic times are tough and retailers everywhere are feeling it, except for those hocking Phillies gear.

At least one sports licensor, however, is looking optimistically at the holidays. The Philadelphia Phillies’ first championship in 28 years sparked hot-market sales that MLB licensing chief Howard Smith now says surpassed the 2000 Subway Series. That means sales generated by the 2008 Series are second only to those fueled by the Boston Red Sox’s 2004 title.

As it has done since the Red Sox broke their 86-year drought, MLB and its licensees are working to extend the sales of championship merchandise by adding holiday themes to the caps, T-shirts and fleece that have been flying out of stores in Philadelphia since late October.

Merry Christmas, times are hard, here's your ... Phillies hat.

speaking of holidays...i felt so proud putting my Phillies ornament on my tree yesterday. Went right at the top!

Wearing my navy blue, stars-and-stripes-in-the-P Phillies cap with my 2008 World Series shirt proudly today. I definitely need some Phillies Christmas swag.

Was at KOP this weekend with the girlfriend shopping (god help me) and they had those Santa hats at every kiosk in the mall! Bought one and wore it proudly all day while she made me carry her bags around the mall.

that RED champs had graphic on the article is a to-come item? I havent seen it anywhere on MLB.com

maybe im blind?

Remember when no one (MLB, ESPN, FOX) thought that a Phils/Rays series would make any money??? Yeah, those clowns finally look stupid.
