Sunday Open Thread
The Birds are off, having picked through the Cardinals on Thursday, and I'm a little sluggish from my 10-year high school reunion last night, so we're gonna open the floor to you for a few hours. What are you happy about this weekend? What's bugging you? Thoughts on the NFL games today? Fantasy football names related to Plax's shooting himself? Any good links? YouTubes? I'll get the ball rolling with this one...

I'm both overjoyed and disgusted at the fact that I'm gonna be using the name Antonio "leave the gun, take the cannoli" Pierce for all eternity as a result of the Plax situation. Here's hopin my boy Bloomberg lives up to his "guns = prison" ads and sends those two assholes up the river where they belong.

It's kind of a shame for the sake of puns that Plax didn't shoot himself in the foot.
Here are a couple YouTube videos I've been enjoying lately. The first is a Japanese Arnold Schwarzenegger commercial and the other one is just bizarre fun.

Gamble, gamble, gamble. It's a sure-fire way to create interest in these games on such a shitty day outside.
The whole east coast is under water right now so I'm liking the under in all games played on the right side of the country. Snow is possible in New England and a tornado watch is in effect in Tampa Bay until 5 o'clock.
The Dolphins (-8) are playing the Rams and the Ravens (-7) are playing the Bengals. I like a tease here taking the Dolphins (-2) and the Ravens (-1). This is hypothetically speaking of course since gambling is illegal.
Degenerates unite!

Boston College back in the ACC Championship vs. Virginia Tech next weekend. The ACC goes 3-1 against the SEC this weekend proving it's the best top to bottom conference out there.

@ dj hugh: I think the best part about that clip (besides the 1:50 mark) is the 3rd or 4th comment down, "is this a church for gays?"

That Mr. T clip is from a motivational movie he did in the early 80's titled "Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool." It's quite possibly the greatest video ever produced and I urge everyone to watch the whole thing. It's truly a great piece of cinema. You can watch the whole thing on youtube in 6 different parts. Here's the link to part #1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmQGxzIUVbk.

Just a comment on what happened in the NFL today and how it relates to the Eagles making the playoffs ...
First of all, does anyone agree that the 8 teams that make up the NFC East and South are ALL superior to those that make up the NFC North and West ... The Giants, Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles, Panthers, Bucs, Falcons, and Saints are all better than the Bears, Vikings, Packers, Lions, Cardinals, Seahawks, Rams, and 49ers. ... that brings me to my next point ...
The Eagles, Redskins, Falcons, and Saints are likely to be left out of the playoffs, but the Cardinals and Bears/Vikings will be in ... how many damn divisions does a conference need ... so not only do they get to play crappy teams all year but they get in with crappy records while teams that matter and play quality teams all year get screwed ...
The Cowboys and Falcons are both 8-4 and the #2 in the South (Panthers/Bucs) is 9-3 ... the Eagles are 6-5-1 and still behind the Redskins too ... even if we win out (which means beating the Giants and Skins on the road and Dallas at home) ... we also need Dallas to lose one more game and Atlanta to lose two ... the loser of this stupid Min/Chi game could still cause trouble too ...
Sooooo ... this is how we get in ...
Week 14
Eagles def Giants on the road
Saints def Falcons at home
Steelers def Cowboys at home
Ravens def Redskins at home
Week 15
Eagles def Browns at home
Giants def Dallas on the road
Bucs def Falcons on the road
Saints def Bears on the road
Cardinals def Vikings at home
Week 16
Eagles def Redskins on the road
Ravens def Cowboys on the road
Vikings def Falcons at home
Packers def Bears on the road
Week 17
Eagles def Cowboys at home
Giants def Vikings on the road
That's it ...

I concur on the Phils highlight video...I've seen a lot in the last month, and this one was by far the best.
Synching Stairs HR swing with the "pull it" lyric was awesome.
