Phils Send Golson and His Tools to Texas
For those holding their breath to see whether or when Greg Golson would make the big club for more than a cup of coffee, the wait is over. According to Rotoworld, the man with all the tools has been traded to the Rangers for John Mayberry Jr. RW's analysis:
So, in his first deal as a GM, Ruben Amaro Jr., a former major league outfielder and son of a major league infielder, acquires an outfielder who happens to be the son of a major league infielder. It looks like a win to us. Neither Mayberry nor Golson figures to live up to his billing as a former first-round pick, but Mayberry is less of a long shot. He hit .263/.316/.474 as a 24-year-old in the PCL last season. Citizens Bank Park would be quite kind to his power stroke if he can reach the majors. OBP will remain a serious problem, though. He should open next year back in Triple-A.
After the jump, Mayberry's top YouTube hit.

Thank God. Golson looked lost according to many scouts. I'm not sad to see him go at all.

Not much of a move, but a Phillies win nonetheless.
Golson was extremely overrated because of his speed, but people forgot he had to get on base for it to be worth something.

Remember how toolsy Golson was when he was drafted? What a crock.
Translation of above is: A good theme, how much all around unrecognized! Take it as a compliment and have another shot of vodka.
Bourn's OBP = .288. Yeah.
