Philly Fans Should Cheer Donovan McNabb On Thanksgiving
(at least until he throws his first pick, then it's open season)
As the Donovan McNabb era ostensibly comes to a close, it would be nice to let him go out with some class. From my post just now over at FanHouse:
There's been a lot of speculation in Philly about the kind of reaction McNabb will receive on this chilly Thanksgiving evening following his mid-game benching last week. In my opinion, the McNabb era is coming to a close in Philadelphia, we all realize this, but instead of booing the man who has given us a decade of wonderful football memories in Philadelphia, I believe the faithful at Lincoln Financial Field should cheer and support the man and give thanks for a career in which he brought us "to the appetizer but didn't get [us] to the entree."
At least there were a few tasty appetizers in the past few seasons. Eagles fans are going to have to wait at least a few more years for a real meal.

and the eagles will be wearing black tonight. is it someone's funeral?

I'm sick of the McNabb era now, and beleve he needs to move on
But in therms of his Eagles tenure, I really believe the Eagles dropped the ball by failing to give #5 legit receiving threats outside of TO -- and the one time he had TO they went to the SB.
Just like Lindros never had a Cup-caliber goalie and ended up disgraced and run out of town.
Damn, running a pro team is hard.

Let's get rid of the best quarterback we have since...oh... the team's inception so we can complain about how much the Eagles suck. Come on, Philadelphia! Do you not remember the Matt Cavanaugh/Bubby Brister/Jim McMahon days? Do you really want to go back to the Kotite era game blackouts? I don't. McNabb is a great quarterback. He needs good players around him. Say what you will about T.O., but the two took the Eagles to the Superbowl. They may not have won, but they went to the Superbowl. You need talented wide outs and a consistent game plan to win. Jackson is a rookie putting up great numbers. What will he do in his second year? Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Let McNabb be McNabb!
