It's Orange & Black Friday
Black Friday shopping? Are you serious? I don't even think my mom and sister do that anymore.
If you're one of the many Americans fortunate to have today off, cramming into a crowded mall, waiting in lines, and walking cold miles through parking lots is not exactly a vacation day in my book. No, I'd rather drink coffee, eat donuts, and watch movies to shake off the heavy winter beers we put away last night with some delicious turkey and corn, mashed potatoes, and gravy volcanoes.
Then, at 1PM, we have the real treat in Black Friday uselessness—the home end of the back-to-back between the Flyers and the Hurricanes. If anyone needs me, I'll be planted firmly on the couch.
As an added bonus, the Flyers will don their much anticipated third jerseys, traditional Orange with the retro white nameplate. On Wednesday, we got to see the Canes in their alternates, a black sweater with some weird gun metal gray squares and red accents. Hideous. Today, Carolina will wear in their road whites, and the home team will look to win their seventh in a row.
Marty Biron has the netminding duties for the Flyers, and he's done well against the Hurricanes recently. No word yet on who the Canes will have between the pipes, but regular starter Cam Ward hasn't had much success against the Flyers.
Opposing Player to Watch: Brind'Amour again. Will he and Richie go today?

I think they'll go with Leighton today. Wish I could watch, but I'll be stuck at work all day.
Should the NHL only allow the Flyers to play Jeff Carter two of the three periods in order to make it fair for the other team??

Today is officially the most relaxing day of my year. Just chillin..... Go Flyers!!!

Jeff Carter could sit on the bench for the first two periods, then come out in the third and single handedly beat the other team...
he's that good

Jeff Carter is on his way to Cole Hamels status. Can we just cut to the chase and lock him to a virtually lifetime deal like Mike Richards?

relax today, go out tomorrow.
LETS GO FLYERS!

I never noticed how great the phrase "heavy winter beers" was until now.
For the record, I'm currently drinking a Fat Squirrel from New Glarus (WI) Brewing Co. with my Thanksgiving leftovers.

@'Duk: Never had that one. I have a variety pack from a bunch of different brewers, as well as the remnants of a case of Sierra Celebration.
Best from the variety pack so far is the Corsendonk Christmas Ale.

Let's go FLYERS!
Anyone know a good website where I can get Philadelphia Sports Team Christmast Ornaments?
Oh... Let's go FLYERS!

I love how the Flyers are putting on all this pressure, get breakaways, hit the post and the Canes get two bullshit goals from broken plays. Just unlucky . . .

Wow, just ate my words. How is Jeff Carter not in the race for MVP!
Lets Go Flyguys!

Don't forget Pitkanen and Seidenberg. And pretty soon JW will be back. We should just call them the Carolina Wanna-be Flyers.

how great do those jerseys look? what possessed the flyers to get rid of orange jerseys in the first place?

Between the ticket, food and my new personalized orange jersey, I spent like $300 going to this game.
And what do I get? One good period, two shitty ones, a half hearted overtime and a loss.
...At least I got a cool cup to take home!

Mikey-maybe you should have gone to one of the previous six games. Or perhaps next time write the Flyers a personal letter and let them know you're there so they'll try harder.
