176 One-Line Game Summaries for the 2008 Philadelphia Phillies
As we continue to celebrate the Phillies' World Series win into mid-November, there is still no shortage of good material. One of my favorite items we've received is a link to a series of scanned notebook pages containing one-line summaries of each game the Phillies played this year. This was sent to us by a gentleman named Phil Lee, which is quite the coincidence if it's not just a pen name. Here's a sample from the notebook, which can bee viewed and downloaded in its entirerty here.
The story behind the notebook, after the jump.
This year, thanks to mlb.com, I watched about 155 phillies games. Also, this year, fortuitously, I kept a log of all the Phillies games in a notebook I carry around. Each day I tried to sum up the previous day's game in one line. When I started I didn't think I would actually keep up with it, I was wrong. The Phils kept winning and I kept writing it down. It's been really great reviewing it now, what with being world champions and all, but there are lot of good ones in there...APRIL 15-BAT BURRELL FOR PRESIDENT, GAME TYING HR B9, W4-3 or JULY 23-REYES & WAGNER, DOUCHES, L3-6I scanned it and threw it up on a blogspot page, http://phillieslogbook.blogspot.com. Oh and it's color coded, red=win, blue=loss. Man there is a lot of red!Anyway, I thought you might enjoy.

This is incredible, love it.

Ahh yes, what a birthday I had this year...May 6: "Eaton no good, 14-6." If that's what it takes for titles, consider me signed up for a lifetime of shitty birthdays.

Or perhaps that which I thought was a 1 is an L? Now that I look closer it's probably an L. Either way, what I remember is that Eaton was pitching my birthday and I made sure not to let myself remember too much of it.

Everything in red is a win, everything in blue is a loss

These will no doubt show up in the impending insanity trial of Phil Lee.

coolest (or lamest) thing i did was cut and paste a ton of photos from various websites around the web after the phils won the championship and put them into one album for future viewing when i was feeling down.

That is really great. "It happened. I can prove it." Thank goodness. Part of me still thinks this is all a dream. A wonderful, wonderful dream.
