Why Can't Us: How One Phone Call Started a Movement
It seems like every media outlet in the tri-state area is on the hunt for Marty in Delaware. No luck yet, but we finally have the audio of the 'call that started it all.'
Courtesy of the fine folks at XM Radio, we have the audio call of Marty in Delaware as he talked to Chuck Wilson on Thursday morning.
Paint the picture: The guy barely got any sleep. He just watched his favorite team reach the World Series for the first time in 15 years. He's had to suffer through 100 seasons of losing. He's tired. He's excited. He's emotional.
He's all of us.
Marty in Delaware is all of us. You can hear him after the jump.
Seriously, if anyone knows this guy, or knows a guy who knows this guy, email me. He's got a shirt coming on the house. Hell, if the Phils win, I hope this guy gets his own float.
Media Note: For those in the Philly area, CBS3 will be doing a story on the Why Can't Us phenomenon. They just left my house, so hopefully it's a good piece. It will be on the 6pm news. For those who care, I'll try to get video.
Also, I'll be in the studio on Fox Good Day tomorrow morning. I have to be there around 7:20 so look for me at the end of that hour.

Clearly, he's a native. Clearly, he's from Delaware. How many Marty's can there be in North Delaware? Cruise manifests? Let's get creative here, people...

Did you know that there are Philadelphians who are ashamed of this movement?
Some people have no sense of humor and are always worried "what people will think of us".
In the end, they are always going to think we're dumb, fat, obnoxious slobs because that's all the media has written up until now, so if you can't beat 'em, make fun of 'em, I say.

I can't believe how long they kept this guy on the air. With that rambling, he wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds on WIP. Good for you, Marty in Delaware!

Beautiful story...on another note, I hadn't seen this...but apparently PETA asked Sugar Shane, "Why SPAM Us?" Observe:

Thank you, I was wondering when we'd get the audio. That is phenomenal.
Can't decide if I'm wearing my "Man or Machine?" shirt (with a picture of John Kruk) tonight while watching the game or my newly bought "Why Can't Us?" shirt. The Krukker MOM is 2-0 in home playoff games this year. Any thoughts?

I love it. I can't wait for my shirt to come. I will be rockin' it this weekend!

I got a funny feeling Burrell is going to DH tonight and Bruntlett will be in left.

So much for my funny feelings.

Have none of the major media outlets hired a P.I.? How many Martys from Delaware can there be who drive to work in NJ on a daily basis and have a cruise booked in the next week? It's frakkin Delaware, he's probably one of like 10 overall Martys.

For whatever reason i have managed to stay calm all week and this story for some strange reason got me way too fired up as i sit here in my why can't us shirt, i cant freaking wait.

i may be misreading this, but marty is on a cruise this week, and i don't think we will find out until he comes back.

Not gonna lie, I have two "Why Cant Us" shirts, but I'm not wearing either one tonight. One is hanging in my office at work, the other is still in my car, which I'm probably giving to my dad. Been wearing a Red Nike DriFit shirt for the big games, so I'm rocking the red tonight. We shall see if an audible needs to be put in for tomorrow night.

The janitor at the elementary school I work at in Delaware tried to claim responsibility for this movement. He had me believing him until today...it's definitely not him on the audio and he's not on a cruise, but his nick name is "Marty." I was hoping to break the news brief

Phillies pitcher Chad Durbin just issued a challenge in his blog to baseball fans to tell him who they think will win and why...fun read...look forward to seeing the comments: http://www.prolebrity.com/watch-us-in-the-world-series/

This slogan is my new favorite thing. How come no one is talking about Marty's mention of a "5 run homer"
Marty for President!

Hey thank you for everything, but i'm just a jack*ss. I just want the Phillies to win it all.
