Brett Myers' Walk and Shane Victorino's Grand Slam: Epic

Wow. Shane Victorino hit a grand slam off of CC Sabathia tonight to put the Phillies in a dominant position in the NLDS. The pandemonium that ensued in the stands after Shane's blast was surreal. None of that would have been possible without Brett Myers epic at bat against CC Sabathia.

Myers came up with two outs in the bottom of the second and a man on third. Brett Myers should be a piece of cake for Sabathia, right? After two quick swinging strikes, Sabathia looked to be on his way to a no-brainer K of the Phillies pitcher. What happened next was one of the most unique, simply kick ass things I've ever seen at a baseball game.

Myers took a ball, fouled one off, and took another ball. At this point, with each pitch Myers fought off, the crowd's cheers became louder and louder. By pitch six or seven the 46,200 maniacs at CBP -- the largest crowd ever -- were going ape shit. Amazing.

Witness my point of view from the game, starting with pitch seven of the amazing nine pitch at bat. Keep an eye out for the "We're not worthy!" and the "You Suck, CC!" at the end.

Which of course, allowed this to happen:

TheFightins also have video of Shane's post game chat with David Aldridge.

I'm still kind of in shock that I was at Citizens Bank Park to see Shane Victorino hit a grand slam off of CC Sabathia to put the Phils up two games to none in the NLDS. That's a great sentence right there.

Much more tomorrow.

Where you were sitting for the game? I was up in 301...it seems like you were pretty close from the size of the players in your video. That part of the park was rocking during all of Myers' at bats after that

303, row 1.

crowd went bazerk, so did i. the only thing i knew how to scream was ''little duuuude,'' unforgetable.

What a night! That was one of the greatest crowds I've ever been a part of. On another note, I've got to be in NYC on Saturday - does anyone know any Philadelphia-friendly bars in Manhattan? I've gotta sneak away from my conference to watch the game.

It was wacky: I was at the game and heard Brett's post game comments and he said he didn't hear the fans. I find that amazing. With each consecutive pitch (of the 17 or so that I heard were thrown to Brett) they got louder. He'd foul a pitch off and they would cheer like he hit a home run.

We, those in attendance tonight and who were silly enough to cheer for a pitcher who admits he sucks at batting should get the 10th man award. It was so loud that I just don't believe we didn't help get in CC's head. My 5 year old even started chanting the "CC" chant after Vic's grand salami.

dave-

for a philly bar in NYC, check out wogies on greenwich. its small and low-key, but that is where you go to watch the phillies.

i, on the other hand, will be in madison, wisconsin, visiting my sister at school and going to the uw-ohio state football game. the phillies game starts at 5:30 central. the football game at 7.

i need a transistor radio for the stands...

Dave, go to Wogie's (www.wogies.com/), 39 Greenwich Ave.

Prince Fielder is the hamburgler

Without a doubt the greatest Phillies experience I've ever had. The crowd was rocking from Myers at bat on. I'm going on stubhub right now to order my NLCS tix.

I got really amped during Myers' AB, but completely lost it after Vic hit that home run.

Apeshit would be the only way to describe it....we definitely got in CC's head and Myers' at bat pushed him over the edge. Did anyone see when he left the game, CC just looked up at the stands as we waived him goodbye. Thanks to all the fans, look what we can do when we all put our positive (negative) energy together and direct it at the other team. Last night was the greatest!

Fielder doesn't eat meat anymore so I guess he would be the veggieburgler

I think Larry Andersen just climaxed.

Anybody got the radio call, for the Myers walk, the grand slam, or the final out?

You can find the radio call over at the Fightins:

I would appreciate if someone would add a shitload of pictures to the700level Flickr account today. I want to see one of Howard talking into Myers ear after the slam.

This team is locked in right now.

ill - That was a great scene on the TV... don't see that too often, but Myers clearly made that inning happen.

I have never heard that place so loud.

I guess what I'm really asking is "What did Harry the K have to say about all this?"

Dave, definitely Wogies is the only place to watch any Philly sports in NYC. After having lived here for 5 years I promise you that you won't find a better slice of Philly in this city.

i was standing by section 131 when he hit that grand slam and it was absolute pandemonium.. Everyone went ape shit and I gotta say, that was one of the top 5 games i have ever been too!!!!

just quick note, scottie upshall and jeff carter were in attendance in the diamond club going wild. Scottie looks like hes 18.

431

it was spectacular

143, Row 1 last night. we were hammering ryan braun the entire game. holy shit was that a fun time.

@ Dave

Wogies or Shortys (corner of 42nd and 9th ave) which used to be Tony Lukes.

both have awesome cheesesteaks

You guys were in 301? Ha, I was pretty close by in 310, row 16. Had probably the funniest drunk heckler during the game behind me too.

When the stupid Jessica Beal PSA came on, he kept screaming (Loud and drunkly) "I'LL STAND UP IF YOU PAN THE CAMERA DOWN!" Hahaha.

That was a great scene on the TV

Hey Enrico,
Great video, seemed very familiar to me. I was in 304 row 1. I was that guy with the Charlie Manual 4 President poster. Great game and I'm glad you got the video from our area so I'll always be able to watch it.

Thanks for posting the great live footage of Myers' epic walk (The Greatest Base on Balls in Phillies History). Check out my view from the couch recap of this amazing game at my baseball blog

Go Phils!!!

I was listening to Scott and LA while driving home from work. My neighbors probably wondered why I was yelling and hitting the steering wheel so much.

All year it seemed to me as though grand slams had been working agains the Phils (Aramis Ramirez hitting one, Delgado hitting one against the Marlins, etc). Nice that they got another to match Werth's.

Watch the replay of the at-bat - Myers was struck out at least twice on non-calls. Umpire sucked. That's what got into CC's head.

Go Dodgers!!!!
