Sad News: Charlie's Mom Passed Away
With the Phillies winning game one, most of us couldn't be more excited about our team right now. Unfortunately, our manager has suffered a terrible loss that far outweighs what happens on the field; Charlie Manuel's mother, June, passed away. Our condolences to the skipper and his family.
Chollie's status for today's game is unknown.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Charlie and his family. If he misses this game I completely understand and have no problem with it at all. I hope he is doing o.k. and everyone around him shows him support.

Todd Zolecki is reporting that Charlie will be at the game tonite.
Can't imagine how tough that is to lose your mother and have to put yourself in the pressure cooker like Charlie is doing.

What a shame. I'm sure she was proud to at least see her son bring joy to Philly last night.

Charlie will be able to handle himself, and hopefully the players galvanize around him and play well today. I can think that this will only sharpen his focus on winning. My condolences to Charlie and his family. Not sure how old she was but surely his mother lived a full life.

I don't know how the guy is going to do it. Hopefully the players will win this one for June.

this is what this city is all about. overcoming adversity. charlie is a great representative of the team and the city. he should do whatever it is he feels he needs to do, he will always be a rock in that clubhouse and hopefully we can pull some magical stuff together for him.

I think this will actually take the pressure off...Charlie and the guys can realize it is just a game and go out and have fun...and when they have fun they usually win
