Phillies Fever 2008
Sure, the lyrics could use an update but the sentiment surely still rings true.

To think I was just watching a video of this song on YouTube earlier this morning! Love it!

Great find on the song! Love the part during the song where Schmitty asks Garry Maddox about playing in the Vet and Maddox flat out lies about enjoying it.
Phil-EEEZE Fever!

This oughtta get the Wally-Park song out of my head. Note to sports radio ad buyers: I turn off your station the second that spot comes on.

Not that I was on the fence about picking an alternate team now that both Chicago teams are gone, but hearing this song really seals the deal.
PHI-leeeeeeeeeees .... FEVER!

I'm at work, so I have to act reserved, but I just wanted to be excited somewhere about the three standing room tickets I just got for Game 1 for face value!
I entered the lottery for tix and got an email offering me to buy up to 3 tix from what was left. So hopefully I can jet out of work and get there early enough to get a spot on the railing in Ashburn Alley.
That is all.
PHILLIES FEVER BABY!

Coincidentally, I'm calling out of work Thursday & Friday with "Phillies Fever 2008"
Good shit, E.

Ah, I remember this fondly. Yes, very fondly:

(By the way, the YouTube video ripped the song and video from my site. But as long as it gets out there!)

Just to be clear, a reader sent me an MP3 of the song. I didn't rip it from anywhere myself. Perhaps they ripped it and converted to MP3?
Thanks for your link though. Did you rip the audio from the original record?

Oh, I didn't mean that 700level took it from me, Enrico. Although the YouTube video noted by the first commenter, Kevin, was clearly the same exact video I had on my blog.
The audio on my video is from a special turntable you can hook up to your computer that directly converts records to mp3s. That's why you can hear all the scratching in it. The visual is a photo taken of the original record jacket.

Nice. Well thanks for getting it on the 'nets for all to enjoy.

I need one of those record player things, and that original album.

"Come on down to Veteran Stadium, the hippest place in town."
wow. that is lyrical excellence, right there.

Anyone know where I can find (or who recorded) the jazz version of "Fightin' Phils"?
I heard it when they were playing "Centennial: 100 Years of Philadelphia Phillies Baseball" on Comcast during a rain delay earlier this year. It's not the Delaware Valley String Band version that you can find an mp3 of online, it's more of a big band jazz version. It's pretty sweet, I really want an mp3 of it!

Holy cow!
I'm got chills listening to that. I HAVE the orginal record...now I want to leave work and go find where I put it. I listened to that song over and over and over.
Wow. This made my day. Great find, Enrico.
