Pat Burrell Leads Phils into NLCS
The Phillies jumped off to a quick two game series lead over the Brewers and faltered a bit on Saturday to sit up two to one coming into today. The question lingering throughout Philadelphia was when Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell would show up in the playoffs.
Pat let his bat answer that question today as he bashed two home runs while leading the Phillies into their first National League Championship Series since 1993.
While talking with Comcast's Leslie Gudel in the locker room after the game, Pat sounded thrilled to be able to help this team win. No player wants to feel like dead weight and to see Burrell's contributions clearly put the Phils over the edge today was huge. Especially because Pat is the longest tenured Phillie, you have to be happy for the guy who has been along with us for the ups and downs of the past decade.
The Phillies will play in the NLCS on Thursday and Pat Burrell showed signs of life today. Perhaps it's a series with his native L.A. team that could make Chase Utley the next guy to wake up from post season slumber.

loving this in-studio insanity on comcast, also b-west was most definitely wearing a dodgers hat at the press conference. So glad Cole bitch slapped all the birds fans to wake up and pay attention to this great baseball team...tho it'll probably fall on deaf ears judging from the reactions at chickie's and pete's

B-West was not wearing a Dodgers hat...its that KC Royals hat he always has with the big KC logo on it.

Sorry, God, but while I was in church today, I refreshed the game summary on my phone about 372 times.
I have been waiting 25 years to break out my red and white "BEAT LA" pin. Doing it 1983 retro style!

I guess, if we each swept 4 at home during the season, we win in 7?
Thursday is a long ways away.

The best part about baseball's post-season is the wait in between series, when your team can't lose, when anything is possible, when you walk around with a smile on your face until Thursday because the Phillies are playing and winning in October.
