Finally Some Distaste In the NLCS
L.A. windbag T.J. Simers dubbed Philadelphia "Angryville." But after reading our Phillies fan report from last night's game, it's seems like a pretty perfect case of pot, kettle, black. The main differences, of course, are the fact that Philly fans show up, are knowledgeable, and have incomparable passion.
Surely, you were all watching as the first pitches were thrown last night on FOX and the camera panned around Dodger Stadium to section after section full of ... get this, not people, but rather empty seats. Joe Buck chimed in with an oh-so-ironic-yet-he-didn't-seem-to-think-so, "This place will be full by the end of the night." Really?
We're talking a National League Championship Series game here and it's not even full at first pitch? It wasn't full at last pitch either as the pricey seats behind home plate were literally more than half empty. For real, I paused the game and counted. There were more empty seats than people.
Coming into this series, most Philadelphians my age didn't think much of L.A. There hasn't been a real rivalry between any teams in either city since the 80's. And most of us were still playing with our Mike Schmidt Starting Lineups at that point.
But after last night, and the way they booed Shane Victorino for simply being unhappy with having a 94mph fastball whiz over his head, there's certainly some bad blood starting to boil.
So add L.A. to the list of pathetic cities Philadelpians are now forced to dislike.
The panacea to all of this nonsense? A Philies series victory at the Dodgers expense, of course.

Enrico, Cut them some slack for being late. It was a 5:22 start local time and what with LA's notorious rush-hour traffic and all.... um, wait a sec, it was a Sunday afternoon. Well maybe they were all at the NFL game in town.... No, that can't be it either. Nope, west-coasters are the worst baseball fans. Hell, at AZ D'Back games, the fans get up and hit the conession stands when their team has the bases loaded and nobody out.

I was at the game last night. Not 1 heckler said anything about baseball....
the only comeback they had is "booooooo" ..they are so stupid!
one guy told me Philadelphia hasn't had style since Ben Franklin...I don't even understand what that means.
I say we all put our money together and when philly wins the series we'll get a skywriter to write "philadelphia owns you" big in the sky.
is anyone in?

I'm in.
Reading the fan report only sickened me further.
What will T.J. Simers write, when the Phillies win tonight, and the fans (if there are any left) riot in the streets?

I'm in on the skywriter idea.
It'd go down as, possibly, the greatest display of ownership this world has seen.

Does anyone else find it ironic that L.A. is burning in hell today after yesterday? Welcome to the gates of Hades, captained by Manny "whatever it takes to get out of Boston" Ramirez. Justice would him at home watching Boston in the World Series.
Not that I wish any harm to the people in L.A., just a part of me doesn't feel remorse watching the stream of cars fleeing the burning hills of L.A.

Wow, anyone have any idea how much the skywriter would cost? Thats one of the funniest ideas I have ever heard, and I really think that it would be the perfect icing on a victory cake

oh, im up for a raise at work, i'll give it all to this skywriting idea.
i'm in.
we need to plan it for like 4 in the afternoon when all the thugs are just waking up from a long night of gangbanging.
@Mark D: it's funny because it's true.

+1 for chipping in on the skywriting. I'm sure this could be done with a huge volume, low cost equation.

I am SO in on the skywriting. What does that cost?
That would be awesome. "Alert the media!"
Then we do it to Boston or Tampa. It becomes our fan's signature move.

I'm in on the skywriting. Click on my name at the bottom of this post or follow the link below for my experience at the game last night (I was sitting next to Mike, who did the fan report.)

I don't understand this unwritten law that says we all have to have a boner every time Joe Buck talks just because of who his dad was. We've all had some fun at the expense of the coverage, but the point is, our Fightin's are as close as some of us have ever seen (myself included). And that's all I care about.
They have a chance tonight to grab a chokehold on this series. I don't care about some overhyped broadcaster with a silver spoon in his mouth. I don't care about some washed up, Foghorn-Leghorn talking sidekick. I don't care about some goofy-haired, power-hitting freakshow or what the guy behind home plate has to say.
All that matters is that every win brings us closer to the championship we've all been searching for in our teams for so long.
That's what October baseball is all about.
Yeah, Chase!
Go Phillies (and Flyers, who have games against Eastern Conference power houses this week)!

for real:
http://www.skytypers.com/
it costs about $1,500.
if 150 people throw down $10 (or maybe one or two rich people chip in more) we got it.
