Hot Nats Beat Phils as Mets Outlast Milwaukee
Well the Phils didn't do their part to make your Labor Day as enjoyable as it could have been. Kyle Kendrick allowed the Nats to continue on their late summer hot streak and the Mets got the job done against the Brewers.
Those are the four teams we're going to be hearing quite a bit about over the next month. The Phils face the Nats five more times and the Mets have six more with Washington. If any team from the East wants to compete for a wild card they're going to have to hope for a Brewers collapse.
On Tuesday, Cole Hamels will try to put an end to the Nats recent winning ways. With 24 games left in the 2008 campaign the Phils currently sit 2 back from New York.
While the Nats own the longest current winning streak in all of baseball, Chase Utley isn't going to let Monday's loss get to him, "Obviously it didn't work out. We're not gonna let this one game get us down. We're gonna battle back like we always have. This month is obviously extremely important so we'll see what happens."
Call me crazy, but I don't like facing these stinking Nationals.
"We're going through one of those good times now," Zimmerman said. "We've got to keep doing that for the rest of the month and it'll be a fun last three or four weeks."
If the Nats somehow find a way to stay hot, at least they're facing the Mets just as much.
But damn, anyone else hate these Nats?

Terrible showing by Kyle today. He needs to be removed from the rotation, and JA Happ needs to take his spot. We can't sit around, twiddle our thumbs, and wait to be 7 GB with 17 games left to play, dammit. The Phils have to man up, play some hard-nosed, get-yo-mutha-fuckin-uniform-dirty baseball and take this division. It WILL boil down to the last week. AGAIN. I know it's 2 games behind, with 24 left, but if the Phils just take care of business, everything will fall into place. The bastards in N'York will cry again, and we will laugh. Quite a mini-rant, eh?

Stevek, I agree with you 100%. For some ass-backwards reason, we do so well when we're 7 runs down with 17 outs to go, or 7 down with 17 games left. When the pressure is on, we shine. It's not going to work again this year! We need to step up now while we can and get 4 or 5 games up to secure this thing.

Alex, they had to bring Eaton back. It was a condition of his agreeing to be sent down.
