Extras: Random Links that Need a New Name
So the boys are back in full swing (Thanks, Dr. Chapstick!!) and we're looking for a new name for this daily post, which yes, will usually come in the morning (more on that later). If you have a name for this, or if you have links you want put in here, no matter how far off the the beaten track, email me.
So here are some thoughts from the long weekend and some links for you.
• First, the Phils lost, the Mets won and that stinks. Everyone I've heard still thinks the Phillies are going to win the division, but according to the ESPN.com playoff percentage meter added to the standings, things are looking grim for the Fightins.
Supposedly they base it on schedule remaining and current standings. I don't think they factor in the Billy Wagner or John Mayne injuries, so we have that going for us.
• The season is about to begin for the Birds and Lito is still not happy. From Inqy's John Gonzalez:
Right now, Lito Sheppard is trying really hard to get Andy Reid to meet him on the playground. Any minute now, everyone's favorite part-time corner will start making cracks about the coach's mother.
• From PFT, The Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco saga won't go away, now because he WON'T talk about it. I still think Marvin Lewis should change his number. Or cut him. Physically.
• Rutgers lost, which sucks. That game should have been 24-0 good guys at the half. Rob Stone was a late replacement for Erin Andrews and the NJ faithful were pissed. So Stoner took a shot at them, with a little help from EA. I wonder if this letter was really from her? Fantastic stuff, video courtesy of AA.
• Well Sarah Pailn had a busy weekend. First she was named VP candidate. Then she told America she was going to be a grandmother. Just because it's so funny, Deadspin has more on the sportscasting video that popped up over the weekend.
• Finally, we did an interview with Buzz Bissinger last night. I was putting it together this AM, hence no links. You can listen to it here in its entirety or clipped up into segments.
I know he's done a lot of interviews, but this isn't just about the Costas Show. Sure we talk about that, and get some 'months have passed' perspective. But the guy is a great writer, and we talk about his career from winning the Pulitzer to writing things that are made into movies. Like I said, we address his issues with blogs too. He comes off both contrite and well-educated about what happened and sports blogs. He likes Beerleaguer. Made no comment at all when I referenced The Level.
I hope it's not a retread of other interviews. Our show is about furthering discussion with sports and media. I think we did that, and I hope you'll listen. Okay, plug over. Now go get a sandwich

All of this Lito talk is just a distraction. Shut up and play football. (or sit on the bench as it may be for little Lito.)

EA has become a pet peeve of mine, but so has Buzz Bissinger. Both of these two have been covered to the point that I change the channel when EA comes on screen. I think they need to be set to rest in the blogosphere hell.

Well, gentleman, the Erin Andrews epidemic can be blamed for the insatiable hunger for page views. Nobody actually gives a fuck about her, and gun to their head would pick 3 girls in their neighborhood that they'd rather embarrass themselves in front of than her. But if you can get your clammy hands on video of her acting a tad "less than professional" in front of an athlete? HOLY FUCK! Prepare for an onslaught of people coming to your site that will never visit again. And the only other thing that can get that many people to come back are more pictures of Erin. It's a vicious circle, really.
Don't get me wrong, I fucked her just to see what it was like, but it wasn't worthy of a post on my blog.

Less Levy, more Enrico. Who the fuck is John Mayne? Maine maybe? And in no walk of life is Rutgers the good guys.

Enrico...please tell your family members to stop harassing me.
(Sorry about the Maine thing, I guess I had Kenny on the brayne.)

How about "Morning Wood" as the new name for this post?
