Wags Could Be Done for Season in NY
Via ESPN:
Billy Wagner has more pain and swelling in his pitching elbow, and the New York Mets' All-Star closer is out indefinitely.
Wagner had an MRI exam Tuesday that revealed additional inflammation in his left elbow -- an alarming sign. The NL East leaders don't know when Wagner might be able to return to the mound, if at all, this season.
Wagner says he won't be done for the season, but there's no timetable for his return. David Lennon of Newsday points out that he can't get a cortisone shot, or he'll risk further injury.

Injuries, no... but death? You better believe it.

Is this good news or bad news?

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Or a better team. Or a classier bunch of fans. Or a better city. I'll stop now.

I think this actually strengthens the Mets' relief corps.

Tom Gordon can sit in the training room for less weekly pay.

This is good and bad. Good because Wags can still convert a save and our lineup won't have to face him, but bad because I was hoping he could save some of those nice blown saves for the remaining 5 games between NY/Philly.

damn, must suck to be injured in an era where an injection can't help any longer.
