More on Manny: End of the Road for the Dreads

After much meaningless but fun speculation, it appears Manny Ramirez will indeed chop off his trademark locks sometime this week. Somehow, this will benefit a charity cause. Hopefully it happens during the Phillies' visit out west and has a Samson-like effect on Manny. [Via Fanhouse]

Manny is baseball's answer for Brett Favre.

pat the bat for MVP
0 out field errors
Leauge leading 7 assists.
Leads the leauge In walks
Almost 30 home runs so far this season

His RBIs are low. But he is hitting behind two of the top 10 in RBIs this year.

Anyone else think so? Anyone? Anyone ...

i guess pat really is a machine and not man

I would consider giving him a gold glove, but not MVP. Has there ever been an MVP that wasn't on their league's All Star team?

His RBIs are probably so low partially because he walks all. the. time.

Unless Burrell just goes around breaking shit in the last 6 weeks of the season, I don't see it happening.

went to the game last night and i was sitting in the first row in LF, third base side.

good phillies crew in the house, but overall the dodgers fans are most concerned about the following...

1. screaming "manny" 900 times until he almost looks over, then start waving like a little girl with a jonas brother within 900 ft.
2. when do we start doing the wave? and what section is the 'best at it?" (this started in the 4th inning)
3. blowing up various plastic beach balls, each with its own bizarre advertiser printed on it) and bouncing them around the stadium until a security guard grabs it and pops it, then everyone boos and calls him an asshole

hopefully the series will get better tonight

Krisheim, I was there on the first base side (towards RF) and I agree with you. The Manny stuff was intirguing when he first came up with the bases loaded, but it got ridiculous after that. I've been to several Dodger games and the wave is weak. I had the following brief conversation with a Dodger fan behind me:

Dodger fan: "We've got the wave and Philly's got Rocky Balboa."

Me: "The wave never beat Apollo Creed."

Dodger fans were pretty accomodating (besides the annoying traits you mentioned) although a few drunk idiots kept screaming "Phillies suck" as my fiancee and I were walking to the parking lot.

Hopefully King Cole shuts them down tonight. I was offered tickets to tonight's game as well but I'll just watch at home. The Phillies are 0-4 when I go to an opposing team's stadium (2 in DC, 1 in Arizona, and now 1 in LA), so I think I'm an albatross.

Not to be a dick, but Burrell has 11 outfield assists so far this year.

Jimmy won the MVP last year and wasn't an all star
