Holmgren Showing Interest in Sundin
No one knows where long-time Maple Leaf Mats Sundin will land this season, or if maybe he'll call it a career, but the Flyers are on the list of potential suitors for his services. GM Paul Holmgren made no bones about being interested in Sundin, as quoted on Comcast SportsNet via the team's site today:
“Obviously a player of Mats Sundin’s stature…he’s been a tremendous player for a long time,” said Holmgren. “He’s a free agent, and we’ve made inquiries as to his status. We don’t know whether he’s going to play or not. I think Mats is still trying to decide that in his own timeframe. But, if he wants to play, we’d certainly have an interest in seeing if we could fit him in.”
Sundin in Orange & Black? Definitely sounds like Homer's interested, and for good reason. However, he says he won't do anything to disrupt the long-term team plans. The other name we continue to hear is that of Florida defenseman Jay Bouwmeester. Yes please.

Sundin is a douche.

I would be shocked if Sundin ended up on any team south of the Canadian border.
Any deal involving signing Sundin would mean a big piece (Carter?) or pieces (Knuble and someone else) would need to go.

He is a city treasure in Toronto, this will cause ESPN-type Favre coverage in TSN

Jay Bouwmeester=i'd rather get another capable defensemen to knock the depth off the charts.
Sundin isnt the answer, and if comes I assume he'll be with gange/briere. I dont know it doesnt feel right. It might be another Forsberg situation all over again.

I don't want Sundin. The guy is old and we have enough centers. I'm more excited about Richards and Carter than Sundin.
If they could get Bouwmeester I'd be excited though. We'd have another capable offensive weapon to compliment Timonen and Coburn, plus it would give us a reason to get rid of Derian Hatcher!

I'd rather have a healthy Gagne. Sundin doesn't do it for me

We'd all love a healthy Gagne, but is that realistic? Maybe I'm overly pessimistic because of all that we've seen with concussions lately, but I'm building my expectations for this team based on Gagne having Primeau Syndrome and retiring by October. I hope I'm wrong.

i would take sundin or bouwmesster IF they didnt force anyone of the team like a carter or knuble

As much as I enjoy watching Knuble, I get the feeling his days are numbered here. He's at the end of a deal (I think) and they probably want to try and get something for the big lug.
