Trevor Laws Excited But Placed on PUP
The Eagles first selection in the 2008 draft, Trevor Laws, was placed on the physically unable to perform list yesterday. We're told this is more of a precautionary move and that the injury is not that serious. Laws says his foot injury is minor, "I can walk fine on it, I just don't want to reinjure it. It's a little sore, but it feels good. They just want to make sure it's great before I go back out there."
Late last week, Laws chatted with a Notre Dame website and was asked how he'd win over rabid Philly sports fans. “My plan is to work hard, make plays, and build their faith in me," Laws answered wisely.
He's also excited about the fine Philly cuisine, "I was taken to Pat’s my first day in Philly. It was delicious. I am a food guy, so I can’t wait to try more great Philly food!"

Cheesesteaks will be the only thing being tackled in philly apparently. If the injury isn't too bad, why can't he play until oct/nov. Damaged goods?

A player that begins training camp can on the PUP list can be added to the active roster at any time prior to the regular season. My guess is he'll be ready to go by the preseason.
@ Chewy
1. Why would you label a player a bust that's never played a down in the NFL?
2. What player was so good at #19 that the Eagles needed to stay in the first round?

As long as they are taken off the PUP list before the season starts, they won't have to sit out six games. Laws and Smith won't miss any games.

They said that they only want them on there for a couple of days to make sure that their injuries aren't going to flare up. A bust Chewy? He's been praised up and down by everyone for his tenacity at the line and is already slated as the number 3 guy at DT. I'd rather sit him a week and make sure he's healthy before rushing him onto the field. Same with Bryan Smith.

I'm less worried about his foot than his mouth. Pat's? Really? Somebody take that man to Tony Luke's and get him a good cheesesteak.

@ Kulp
I label him a bust because anecdotally guys who fail to be healthy enough to get on the field in their rookie season rarely pan out. I hope I'm wrong.
I have no idea who was better at 19. However, given the number of players chosen between 19 and their pick, I can only assume that the other teams had higher rated players. Was law the 19th highest rated player on the Eagles' board. Probably not, meaning that there was someone better available (although maybe not the cheap bargain this team looks for). Again, I hope I'm wrong and that Law is the best player in the draft class.

He hasn't missed a game yet.

Thanks for the link guys. After watching Trevor for 4 years at ND, I can say that I think we'll all be pretty pleased with his play on the field. He's a good pass rusher from the inside (he nearly iced the 2005 ND-USC game with a sack on 2nd down before Leinart pulled out that 4th down pass to Jarrett) and hustles.
He had 112 tackles last year as a DE in a 3-4 defense. He's tenacious and doesn't ever let up on a play. He'll be a very good player for us.

Doesn't being placed on the PUP keep you out until week 6 and if you're not activated by week 10, out for the entire season?

I stand corrected then.
