The Freak is "Hissed!"

ESPN.com has an article today on Jevon Kearse and how he's ready to show just how much he has left in the tank. We've heard similar sentiment out of the Freak a few weeks back but it's getting angrier.

Kearse has adopted the chip-on-his-shoulder cliché with a twist, turning the chip into a boulder. He said there isn't a player in the league looking forward to the season more than he is. At the end of the 2008 season, what will Eagles fans think of him?

"They'll say, 'Why the hell did we let that dude go?'" Kearse said. "'What were they thinking?'

"But everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was a good reason: So I can get pissed off and get more motivated."

I'll believe it when I see it. But here's the funny part. Philly.com translates the quote as such, "But everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was a good reason: So I can get [hissed] off and get more motivated."

Jeez, Philly.com, don't be such a [wussy].

We were thinking, "we paid you 1.3 million per sack?!"

Haha I'm glad you saw this ridiculousness too, Enrico. It's sad that Kearse has to do all this talking to get himself ready for the season. I regret buying his jersey when we signed his sorry butt.

I am curious though, why we released him instead of Jerome McDougle. Both are equally worthless.

I'd take 16 healthy games from Kearse in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened since his Ten. stint. I don't get the anger here. I don't think anyone felt as though Kearse sucked...he just wasn't on the field enough.

You're right, Andy. Most fans just look at his sack totals. Jim Johnson used Kearse as more than just an edge pass rusher. Injuries played the key role in his decline, and he was released in a salary cap move.

The Eagles overpaid and lost, but that is the nature of free agency.
