Sixers Add A Shooter in Kareem Rush
Kareem Rush is certainly not a big name free agent but is best known for his ability to hit a jumper, something the Sixers needed. He played last season with the Pacers where local bloggers said his play was "inconsistent at times, but so was his role on the team. Plus, he was dinged up over the last part of the season. One thing Kareem showed was that he could do more on the court than shoot 3-balls and that effort led to his pay day in Philly."
By all accounts it appears to be a positive signing, but Slam Online may be a little too excited with their "Dare we say it? 1. Boston, 2…." sentiment. I'm just glad they didn't say it.
One commenter takes it to another level and we felt the need to include due to his jab at former management,
"BRAND, IVEY, AND KAREEM!? Thats more than Billy king has done in his whole Life. WAY TO GO Edddie. Kareem is a beast. He once drained 6 threes in a row. WE got our shoota.
Philly ALL DA WAY. "
So yeah, dude once drained 6 threes in a row!
The deal isn't yet official but is expected to be announces sometime today.
You can check out his career stats here.

Dude, the 76ers should totally sign that autistic kid who hit all those threes in a row, too. They'd be unstoppable.

Good move by the sixers. Just sign Iggy and lou and I think we can be a contender. I just hope Brand stays healthy because he will be one of the main factors in this team's success. I think the Sixers and the Flyers are the teams closest to championship. They both have smart general managers who want to win a championship. Andy Reid and Pat Gillick should be taking notes from Stafanski and Holmgren on what it takes to be a serious contender for a championship. You go out and fill your biggest needs.

If Kareem can repeat this in the playoffs:

I'll take it. I think it is a good move for the Sixers. They found a shooter and defensive player for the bench.
Oh, and they added some power forward who was hurt, what's his name? Oh yeah, Elton fucking Brand!

Not as good as his brother. And I don't mean JaRon.

Does this signing mean good-bye to Lou Williams?

No, Lou Williams is a PG. Kareem Rush is a SG. Rush basically replaces Carney in the rotation. Williams is still the first guard off the bench. Ivey replaces Ollie.

For the first time in my lifetime, the Sixers actually now have 12 players that can all play, at least a little.

Wow I remember when he was drafted in 2002 and I was so afraid that the Sixers were going to take him. There was word that they were hot on him and he was a shooter, but he was a SG and we still had AI. It pleases me now that we've picked him up as a free agent to come off of the bench though. I really like what Ed Stefanski is doing with this team. It just seems like he's going after the right kinds of players and using his money very wisely. I'm excited to see this team start working together and hit the court.

SF Young
PF Brand / Evans / Speights
C Dalembert / J.Smith
PG Miller / Lou Williams / Ivey
SG Iguodala / Rush / Green
Not bad. Not bad at all. The little pieces are now falling in place. Three more spots to be filled, but I will gladly go into the season with this core.

Excellent signing, but I think the championship talk is premature.

How about Atlantic division challengers? That's a bit more realistic.
Lots of laughs on the Royal Ivey playing the Kevin Ollie role. That's probably the extent to which we will see Ivey as it stands now: waving the occasional towel as comcast goes to commercial.....
With the FA period calming down, I'm starting to think about rotations. Elton should nail down about 40-45 min a game, and the natural first rotation would seem to be Sweet Lou in, Iggy to the 3, and Thad to the bench. I just wonder where Evans will be left in this mix as the energy guy, bc he is a little clumsy for the 3 and a bit small for the 5. Also wondering if Speights will push Mr. Smith in the middle as Slammin' Sammy's backup.....

Thats a good signing by eddie. Kareem is a pure shooter. People keep on saying Ivey is a good defensive player, so hopefully he can carry that on into philly. My main focus now is that we sign andre. Alot of people are saying sign and trade, but I really want to see andre return next year. And lou. He's our future. Do your thing Eddie!
