Phillies Face the Evil John Lannan
The name John Lannan doesn't sit well with most Phillies fans. But Chase and company can get some vengeance tonight when they go for the sweep in DC. Utley has homered in both games so far this week. Kyle Kendrick throws for the Fightins and I'm expecting tonight to have the heaviest Philly presence of the three game set at Nationals Ball Park. Cause tomorrow is Friday and all. Working on Friday is overrated.

John Lannan MUST DIE.
or at least thats what the Facebook group I'm in says.
Can we add Scott Olsen to the list too? (Along with dripping hat)

@ricky
Are you in the group that describes itself, "John Lannan hit both Chase Utley and Ryan Howard with pitches breaking Chase Utleys hand and pretty much ruining the phils season."
Or, the group with the rather more colorful, "FUCK JOHN LANNAN FOR ENDING THE 2007 PHILLIES SEASON
AND
FUCK SIENA COLLEGE
AND
FUCK NEW YORK "

I'm feeling like Pat is going yard in this one.
Posted by: bcapp | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:06 PM
I think pitching for the Nationals is punishment enough for Lannan.
Posted by: DCGreg | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:08 PM
did anyone else's Comcast Sportnet HD go out? ESPN is out too.
Posted by: ricky | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:14 PM
Holy crap, he hit Shane!
I think I'll join that Facebook group now.
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:16 PM
Well, one pitch down and no HR...off to a better start than last night...go Kendrick!
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:20 PM
@ Ricky:
my regular CSN channel is all messed up...its freezing and flickering and doing all kinds of crazy crap...a commercial for the PA Lottery just played, froze and re-started...I hate comcast.
Also, nice pitch KK...Kearns can go take a seat now.
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:28 PM
MikeY: yeah both channels for me now are quite fucked up
El Ricko: the one that says fuck Siena College
Everyone: Phillies Nation is out in force. Can't wait to invade Shea
Posted by: ricky | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:30 PM
The Nats' announcer was halfway through congratulating Zimm on putting out Victorino, when he realized the ball was trickling down the first base line.
HAHAHAHA
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:40 PM
can we always put Tom McCarthy in a parking garage? preferably without without a microphone
Posted by: ricky | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:40 PM
is it just me or is Tom McCarthy always in the weirdest places in each ballpark...
Posted by: Brendan | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:42 PM
@ Brendan:
Yes, he is...I'm waiting for him to report from on top of the bell in centerfield at the Bank one day...and then for someone to promptly hit a HR and knock him off.
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:45 PM
Bruntlett covers, that's not a run.
Posted by: DCGreg | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:49 PM
@ Mike Y
yea and i think the perfect batter would be pat the bat
Posted by: Brendan | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:49 PM
Wow. Stupid baserunning pays off for the Nats.
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 07:51 PM
@ Ricky
You know what's funny? If you go to a Phils game and see Tom McCarthy, the Phillie Phanatic gets more security than McCarthy does. Take that any way you want, but I view that as the Phillies caring more about the Phanatic than cueball McCarthy.

Zimmermann hit in the hand... man, I'm all broken up about that.
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:11 PM
Gettin' them 2 runs back, I like it.
Posted by: ricky | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:18 PM
So is John Lannan going to sucker punch the catcher when this inning gets over. Hopefully if he does, he breaks his wrist.
Posted by: Paul | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:19 PM
Did you see the huge purple circle on his hand when they showed a close up of it?...ouch!
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:20 PM
Yes Sarge and Tom its absolutely freaking astonishing that they have X-rays in the ballpark. It absolutely blows my mind...Someone shoot them...Please
Posted by: John | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:25 PM
Flyin' Hawaiian... grounded.
What exactly would that have gained us, Shane?
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:29 PM
There you go Chase, there you go.
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Haha...I love those Mitch Williams "Yo!" commercials....they're great.
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Pat Burrell.. YOU ARE also THE MAN
Posted by: ricky | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:03 PM
I've never seen a Major League team remind me so much of the Bad News Bears as these Nats.
Posted by: Loqiel | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:28 PM
So nice to see this team start hitting again. Granted, its been against the Nationals and Braves so I'm not getting too excited yet.
Posted by: Jason | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:31 PM
In the words of Lou Brown.. "That's interesting".
Posted by: Loqiel | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:36 PM
I'm watching on mlb's gameday. Can anyone watching the game tell me whether chase getting hit was incidental or the Nats throwing at him?
Posted by: Liam | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Speaking of Mitch Williams... anyone tried his salsa? It kinda blows, actually.
Posted by: El Ricko | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:49 PM
@ Liam
It looked like he was throwing at him, i am waiting for seanez to come in throw at someone and use his karate skills or whatever he does, and whoop some national ass. I wanna see the phils throw at someone
Posted by: Brendan | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:49 PM
You Nats better look out, here comes....Rudy Seanez
Posted by: MikeY | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 09:51 PM
Wheels, stop making excuses for Rudy Seanez. The guy blows. Period.
Posted by: Chris | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:02 PM
So they intentionally drill our best player with a 95mph fastball late in a six run game and we don't do shit about it?
Posted by: pilgrim | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:11 PM
Sorry if someone's already mentioned this and I just missed it, but...
Adam Eaton's line in his first start at Lakewood (low-A)
3.2 IP, 5 hits, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 Ks, 1 HR
Posted by: Bean | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:40 PM
I actually longed for Carlos Silva when I saw Utley get pegged that second time. We need a pitcher who isn't afraid to get tossed. It was inexcusable when no one threw at Reyes for showboating and it's even more inexcusable no one retaliated for throwing at Utley.
Posted by: Chris | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:07 PM
All I can say about eaton is compared to myers at least myers stats improved (though not by that much) when he went to the minors. Good to know the team is paying this douche 8 mill a year to suck it up in AA.
Posted by: Liam | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:21 PM
single-A actually
Posted by: forest | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:34 PM
Read that wrong my bad. The one thing I can say is that I don't know whos position I'd rather be in right now, that of Adam Eaton or Brett Favre. You could suck at your job and make 24 million over three or stay retired and make 20 million over ten years
Posted by: Liam | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:38 PM
Just got back from the game and it seems your expectations were correct. I saw so many phils fans I thought I was in south philly again, if only.
Posted by: brad | Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:58 PM
i was at the game last night. there actually might have been more philly fans there than nats fans.
was the error that got kendrick to first as funny on tv as it was in person? i hope so. people were dropping in the aisles over that one.
Posted by: jd | Friday, August 01, 2008 at 12:47 PM
I was there last night too. I definately think we outnumbered the Nats fans. It was ridiculous how many of us there were. Great energy all around too.
Last game I went to, Werth hit three home runs. I go last night and he went yard first AB. I was on the edge of my seat his next AB, but of course he struck out check swinging.
Definately thought that Utley should have done something other than walk quietly to first base. That pitcher was screaming at him, and he just walked away. Pat was ready to charge out of the dugout, weidling two bats and war paint.

EASY with the Fuck Siena College and John Lannan.
I am a Die Hard Phillies fan, Siena grad, and former John Lannan teammate/ roommate.
He did not hit Utley or Howard on purpose and the Phils still won the division.
GET OVER IT.
