Myers Goes For Round Two
The Phils kick off a three game set tonight in D.C. against the Nationals and Brett Myers will make his second appearance since returning from the land of Iron and Pigs. The last time he took the mound it started off extra rocky but wound down into just kind of averagely bad. Perhaps tonight will be more telling.
The Phils have made a flurry of moves, recalling J.A. Happ as expected and placing Pedro Feliz on the 15 day DL. He has been replaced by infielder Mike Cervenak from Lehigh.
There have been rumblings of the Phils going after Royals lefty Ron Mahey (Ho!) but TZ says nothing is currently in the works.
We apologize for the slow posting this week but my Internet has been giving me fits and Matt's busy eating lobstah and drinking delicious beers.
I'm heading to Nationals Park this evening to cheer on the Phils. Look for some "moblogging" as I've got one of those new iPhone toys. Not sure how it'll work. Consider it a test run.

ill be there thursday night
party in arlington afterword!

It might not be that bad tonight considering the guy hes facing has an ERA around 5.70.

Well, I'm just going to save myself some time and start drinking now...

I'm glad to see the Philly contingent in D.C. will be out in force.
I'm going to all three games. You can't miss me. I'll be the white guy in the Utley jersey.

Come on Brett, keep it respectable. I think the nats have lost 6 straight, I never like running into long streaks like that...I daresay the phils will not sweep this series.

This Just in...
According to Comcast Sportsnet, the Braves have traded Makr Teixiera to Angels for Casey Kotchman and a AA pitcher.

Remember how everyone (including myself) bitched about the announcers on Versus during the Stanley Cup playoffs? Well having suffered through both that douche as a full time Caps announcer, and now the Nats announcers for 2.5 baseball seasons, I can say on good authority that the National's guys are far and away the worst humans to ever sit behind a microphone. Just thought I'd bring that up ahead of this series, because I never thought I'd enjoy watching a game on mute compared to with volume.
Anyone in the D.C. area can surely agree.

That first inning is exactly what myers needed. Is it too much to ask that he gives up zero runs in the second inning too?
Posted by: Liam | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:23 PM
Well, we'll see how Myers follows up that o run 1st inning...hopefully he doesnt shoot himself on the foot
Posted by: MikeY | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:32 PM
Myers looking good the first 2 innings. Now we need the bats to make some noise.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Maybe with those 2 runs myers will fell better.

Chase Utley...you are THE MAN!!!

I give up. I cant type tonight.
Posted by: Ben | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:44 PM
At the moment I'm watching the game on cbssportsline GameCenter...but I hope the ball that hit Lo Duca was a 2007-Myers fastball right to the dome.

8 of 10 first pitch strikes from Brett?
Twilight Zone.
Posted by: Justin | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:54 PM
Well, there goes Myers' no-hitter...but in all seriousness, looking good thru 2 2/3 innings.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Looking good so far tonight.
Posted by: ben | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 07:57 PM
I'm thinking Enrico either lost his iPhone or this test-run is going horribly.

I don't like the two hit batters though...
as I speak they turn the DP again.

So I bought a ticket to tonight's game, but I am stuck at home with work. Even more aggravating is that I can't find the game on TV. Anyone in the Northern virginia area with Comcast, what channel is the game on? Anyway I'll probably be there on thursday night as well.
P.S. I can't believe how cheap Nats tickets are. $7.00 on Stub Hub????
Posted by: Pete | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:07 PM
If theyre $7.00 on stubhub, how much are they at the stadium?
Posted by: MikeY | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:19 PM
Maybe tix are $7.00 because the Nats are making Brett Myers look like Brandon Webb.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:23 PM
@MikeY
Cheap seats are $10.00 at the stadium, but I had a $10.00 coupon for Stub Hub. So after taxes and fees the ticket was only $4.00

I really wish that the offense would give Brett a bigger cushion as I am still under the impression he can implode at any second. And Jenkins really needs to pick it up, as does the rest of the bottom part of the order
Posted by: Liam | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:32 PM
Thanks for rubbing it in to all those who ordered the iphone, and are still waiting...
I'm afraid to get too pleased with Brett yet...it's Washington. I'd like to him put up these numbers against someone else, but this is certainly a start. False confidence is still confidence.

Comp...Ga...Shuto..??? Dare I say it??? Nah, I won't jinx Brett.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Another hit for Utley...damn straight.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Damnit Utley...Brett would have been through the 8th easy is they turned that.
either way...
I <3 Brett.

It's reported that the Mets have contacted Boston concerning Manny.
He's tempting, I'm not really interested, but something tells me to get him so the Mets don't.

Come on Lidge, put the nail in these fuckers' coffins. In other news, the Mets are up 4-1 over Florida. I hope that game goes 30 innings.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:41 PM
It might have been against a crappy team, but I'm awful glad to see Brett throwing strikes, and getting this win.

sometimes, even the sun shines on a monkey's ass.
Posted by: SIS | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:43 PM
The Nationals may be crappy, but I'm sure they are better competition than the Iron Pigs had.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:43 PM
@TheCoz
I'm not entirely sure of that.
Posted by: Pete | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:45 PM
lol @ Pete...at least they play in DC where a bad baseball team is the least of their problems.
Posted by: TheCoz | Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 09:49 PM
trade Myers now while you can get something
