Iverson and Barkley Weigh in on Brand Signing

In the wake of Dunleavygate, Comcast Sportsnet caught up with the last two Sixers superstars to get their opinion on the latest top dog in Philly. The response of these two greats, who can be tough critics, is encouraging.

We lu-ya back, AI. Great to hear The Answer say the Sixers found their diamond (and he knows from ice), while the Round Mound says Brand did what he had to do. Anyone else think AI sounded a little like Bubbs there? Jody Mac also said earlier that the Vegas odds on the Sixers winning the title went from 40-1 to 20-1 with the signing. That doesn't make them favorites by any stretch, but it ain't bad for adding one player to the mix.

Its sad to think about how good this team would be with Iverson at the 2....

RyanAbrams...that would have never been possible. The sole reason the Sixers could sign Brand to this gargantuan contract was because of the cap space.

And how about Brand's wife...what a hottie.

Whitey sale! whitey sale! One for three two for five.....

Ryanabrams, you can play that game throughout any timeframe in the NBA; if only we had drafted Paul Pierce instead of Larry Hughes, or anyone instead of the Stormin Mormon, etc.... And the other Ryan is right, exactly how would we fill out a team after payin AI $21, Brand $14, Sam and Miller $10 each? (the salary cap this year is what, ~$58?) That would leave about $2 mil under the cap to sign Iggy, Thad, Evans, etc.

I'm just mostly concerned about EB's achilles and our ability to sign somebody that can hit an outside shot (Boobie? Posey? Monta?). Anyone know of a squad that would seem willing to do a sign and trade with Iggy? He seems to want more than his market value and SF never really seems to be a position of need....

typepad sucks..... sorry for the double post

I never said it was possible, just that it would be quite a team with a talented guard of his caliber.

It _is_ a nice dream, Abrams, I'll give you that. AI with Brand and Iggy would be the team to beat in the East (esp with Thad, Sammy and Speights on the boards and in the mix).

Speights and Thad looked nice in summer ball yesterday; looks like we got a front line for the first time since Moses led us to the promised land. Now I humbly ask for a shooter, Fast Eddie.

I love Posey's fire and his stroke (no homo), any of you cap-ologists know if we have the room for him? Juan Dixon, Kareem Rush, and Boobie Gibson are all younger and cheaper.... Warriors will probably match any offer for Monta. Any other ideas out there?
