Hamels Hammered Early, Often... Phils Win!
Sorry for the delayed game thread post, but Enrico's comp is on the fritz, and I'm on vacation in Red Sox land (Maine, not Boston). I'm borrowing some wireless from an unsuspecting neighbor, so I'll keep this brief and let those of you who can actually see the game take over.
Our Lord and Saviour Cole Hamels got dismantled by the Braves, giving up four ER, and nine total runs in the fourth inning. The Bravos batted around, and the Phillies committed two errors (Utley, Hamels). Based on Yahoo stat tracker, Cole didn't seem to have much command, yielding six hits and three free passes versus only two punchouts. Mark Teixera put him out of his misery, belting a three-run homer and scoring for the second time in the inning.
Game's not over yet folks. If you will it, it is no dream.
UPDATE: PHILS WIN. Crooked innings, crooked innings.

The god damned plane has crashed into the mountain.

How happy must the people who bought tickets to see Hamels pitch be to see Eaton take the mound?

That was ridicious, is this what inspired baseball looks like? Just kidding...sort of
Posted by: Warren | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 05:59 PM
Uh, no, it's not "basically a 1-0 game". It's a 10-9 game, which affects the mentality of the players.

A very 1993/2007-like inning there.
Dobbs really exposed how vulnerable the Falcons' secondary is there when you put pressure on that safety.

Wow, I guess Matt was right. Nothing is fucked here.

Despite being a one run game, and perhaps it's the eternal Philadelphia pessimist in me, I wholly expect this to end a one-run game after a based-loaded pop-out. I hope I am wrong.

Don't worry man, they'll bring in Wohlers and he'll blow it.

The greatest thing about this game right now...Hamels started, and we finally scored, too bad he gave up six ER.
The second greatest thing...Eaton is in line for the win.

Justin, I agree. It's nice to see something positive happening around Eaton.
Posted by: JMS | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 06:22 PM
Adam Eaton...so hot right now.
Posted by: DLo34 | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 06:22 PM
Maybe Chollie will put him back in the Starting Rotation!!!!1!1
Posted by: Justin | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 06:24 PM
I sure hope not.

Hey Jayson, I know you're our backup catcher, but can you pitch, too?
Posted by: JMS | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 06:27 PM
Unreal. Glad I turned the game off to go eat dinner.

I'm so happy I was wrong.

Adam Eaton gets the win. I knew something was wrong about today.
Posted by: jtq | Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Not sure what was more amazing, the Phillies coming back to win or Eaton not giving up any runs in what was supposed to be mop up duty. This was a big win and hopefully it will give us some momentum.
I also think that, on a bigger scale, it might have saved the future of this organization. I say that because I worry that with a big defeat today, Gillick would have made an irrational trade and shipped away a bunch of the team's top prospects.

Something I forgot to mention...
Is it coincidence that Saturday's game was Harry K's first game in a week since his eye surgery.
Posted by: Justin | Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 03:52 AM
Harry's call on 1210 was awesome
Posted by: Bryan | Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 07:35 AM
