Tiger Makes Sunday Rather Interesting
There's something oddly unique about Tiger, even though he is far and away the best in the world, people still root for him to win.
We were at a bar when Tiger hit the putt to send the 2008 U.S. Open into an 18 hole playoff. The entire place erupted when that final putt sank. Watch Tiger's final clutch put at Fanhouse. I wonder why people cheer for Tiger while most people root against the best in all other sports?
For those of you at work today and have a case of the Mondays, it's the perfect day to fire up live coverage on the Internet. The 18th hole playoff should kickoff around noon and you can catch it at ESPN360 or at USOpen.com.
Golf on a Monday: where diminishing productivity happens.

Ooh thanks for the info about live coverage online of the playoff. That's awesome because I was kind of disappointed that I was going to miss it. Good call.

I think it's easier to root for the best in an individual sport because when Tiger beats the field he's not beating anyone I have a local attachment to - like the best in team sports do.
Plus I think everyone knows how special Eldrick is - watching him is watching history

This has been a great playoff so far. It's real cool that the USGA put this online for free. I guarantee that they are getting a huge amount of viewers right now. This is the way to promote a sport.
