Stevens & Co. Celebrate Flyers Night at CBP in Style
Even the most brutish and bruised of hockey players have a way of looking fluid and graceful on the ice. Black eyes, busted knees, and stitched noses might make other men look worn down—but once the skates are on, NHLers are flying up and down the ice, impressive in their athleticism.
Take them outside in June, however, and you've got a different story. T-shirts, pale arms, mandals, shorts two inches above the knees, and a general awkwardness that befits their postgame interview stylings. In other words, they look a lot more like me than I'm used to.
Last night was Flyers Night at the Phillies game, and John Stevens took the field with a handful of Flyers, who were greeted with warm applause from a grateful fanbase. Goalie Marty Biron threw out the first pitch, and was interviewed by Tom McCarthy in the third inning. Video:
As a commenter pointed out, it must suck to have your team taken away from you like that. Glad to have Marty on board though, and he's for damn sure going to be happier rooting for the Phils than he would the Nats. Nice choice on the alternate jersey too. I do think they should have changed it up and had him catch the first pitch though... More fitting considering his profession.
Thanks to Clare for the picture and mandals descriptions.

Can't believe McCarthy couldn't get Biron tell him who owns the Chiefs.....

"they should have changed it up and had him catch the first pitch though"
Didn't they do that with Lieby? Still waiting for them to have Fasano throw out a first pitch...
