Highlights of the Cardinal Carnage
Enrico shared the best moment of a great night for the Phils, when Chase, Ryan, and the Pat went yard back-to-back-to-back on 8 pitches in the first. But in a 20-2 game, there were plenty more highlights to behold, so why not share 'em all.
Works for me.
I gotta say, I kinda understand why they threw at Howard there though. Just a little. After stroking his second homer of a game that was long since insultingly out of reach for the home team, Howard cocked back for a second and watched the ball from the batter's box. He's done it before, and been thrown at for it, so we should probably be ready when it happens. I was surprised to see Russ Springer get ejected without a warning, and more so that Rudy Seanez didn't get tossed for attempting retaliation. But I'm not complaining. To his credit, Howard did quickly pick up the trot, but I can see why the Cards might have been pissed. </devil'sadvocate> No word yet on Larussa's BAC and ABC's after getting the early shower.
Often lost in tales of 20 run games are the feats of the starting pitcher, and Kyle Kendrick had a real nice turn. He's raised his record to 6-2, allowing only one earned run on a long ball last night. He also chipped in at the plate, going 2-5 with a double and an RBI. Best of all, as SportsRise pointed out, he showed some great composure considering how long he had to wait to take the mound again in some long top halves. It's great to have run support like last night's, but the Phils would have won with only the homers hit in the first inning.
Great to see (1) the pop back in the bats after some snoozers in Flo-rida, and (2) St. Louis have to pitch four relievers and a position player in the first game of the series.

I personally find it a bit juvenile to throw at a player just because he watched himself smack the cover off a ball. You don't like it? Don't let him hit the HR. I'd prefer a pitcher threw at player for saying something about his mom, or if his wife called out the players name the night before instead of his own. But beaning a guy because you don't like watching him beat you? A little bit of poor sportsmanship. But I guess that's baseball.

Yea but Ryan does hit alot of them so its not like hes never seen one go that far. On another note: am i supposed to go to Modell's because they support the Celtics? If so i abstain from Mo's.

Nice video, but I absolutely HATE that guy on Baseball Tonight.
If I ever see him on the streets, boom, punch straight to the pussy.
Fill your horn with that.
