Eagles Super Bowl Odds

Bodog.com recently posted some of their odds for the 2008 NFL season. The Eagles sit at 7-1 odds to win the NFC and are behind only their two NFC East division rivals, the Cowboys and Giants. The Eagles are 20-1 to win the Super Bowl. That puts them behind about five other teams including the Pats, Colts, Giants, Cowboys, and Jaguars. [Full odds]

Seems like Vegas thinks, more so than the average Birds fan, that the Eagles added close to enough weapons this off season.

*Weapon. 1 man.

The Eagles are also behind the Colts (15-2) and Chargers (8-1).

I'm surprised the Giants odds are so good. Manning deserves credit for his leadership, but he still doesn't look like a great quarterback, and Strahan obviously is a huge loss. They may have won the Super Bowl, but they didn't leave me with the feeling they were the best team in the NFL. How much better are they now?

dave spadaro totally agrees

Behind the Cowboys I see, but I think the Giants will struggle to make the playoffs next year.

7-1 sounds like good odds for the Birds. I'll make my usual $100 prayer bet (simply because if we get our miracle parade, I'd kick myself for not making the play).

I'd give em 7-1 if they played in the NFC West. Two games each against the NFC East is some serious attrition at the very least, not a gimme game among them. If it was my book they'd be about 10 or 12 to 1.

The key is the schedule up to the bye week. If we're 6-2 going into the bye (@Dallas and PIT are the two likely underdog games), then we're in business (take care of Atlanta in week 9, and 7-2 going into the home stretch is pretty). 5-3 going into the bye and we're okay. 4-4 or worse and we're on full time Dmac drama red alert. 3-5, we have no shot at the playoffs and Big Red has one more year to turn it around.

Most of the games in the second half should be even up contests, @Sea and the NFC East games scare me the most. Still, the NFC East should again field 3 teams and whoever emerges least bruised has a solid 4-1 shot.... Yeah, I'm a homer, but I'll take this bet (I do every year)

Where you at, Kulp?
