CBP Serves Cheap Beer (And Not Just the Bud Light)

A CNBC article says Citizens Bank Park, at 24 cents an ounce, has the cheapest beer in all of Major League Baseball. The Red Sox, Braves, and Mets all pay more than double what Phillies fans pay per ounce.

Darren Rovell then proceeds to take a low blow at Phillies fans.

The Phillies are the cheapest, believe it or not, at $5 for a 21-ounce beer at Citizens Bank Park. You get any cheaper than 20 cents an ounce over there and I'd bet the atmosphere at games would change.

Har har har. But look! A non-Philadelphian over at Sports by Brooks comes to the Philadelphia fans defense... uh, sort of.

The moral of the story: don't think twice about tossing that beer on that annoying Angels fan tonight. Just figure out when you have about four ounces left and it'll be the same as tossing a weener on dollar dog night.

Beer keeps the Boo Machine lubricated properly. Long live 24 cents-per-ounce beer.

where is this five dollar beer that they speak of?

Where does one purchase these $5 beers?

Maybe I just didn't know because I figure if I'm going to buy overpriced beer, it sure as hell won't be Bid Light. I usually find a stand with Lager or Sam Adams.

I think I invented the part about it being Bud Light.

Still, $5 beer... WHERE?

I always go for the better beer even if it means walking halfway around the stadium. its like getting the cheap 2 dollar kid hot dogs. I am pretty sure this guy just made up the 5 dollar beers to have another reason to talk shit on philly

beer quality is the best i've seen here in philly, one of my favorite things about going to the games. in san diego earlier this month, the beers were $9 a piece, and they didn't have anywhere near the variety we get.

There is no $5 beers in CBP. I have bought beer from almost every stand in the stadium and never have I seen beer for 5 bucks. The only beer that costs 5 dollars is the 3 or 4 beers that I sneak in the stadium through my kids stroller. Works everytime.
P.S. please don't report me to the authorities. Thank you.

the only place I can think of is in mcfaddens but that beer can't be taken into the stadium so by calcualtions for the real beer price of 6 dollars and 75 cents a beer at the bank costs about 32 cents per ounce and that would make us average in our beer cost. and from my calculations a pint of beer is an imperial pint which is 19.2 fl ounces which would therefore make all of his calculations incorrect. morale of the story dont mess with a guys beer

I like your style, Stock.

"wait til you have 4 ounces left then throw it on an angels fan, same as dollar dog night" ? isn't that 80 cents?

A guy got thrown out in my section last night for throwing beer. Guess he read this article first!

But not really, he looked pretty damn drunk.

The cheapest beer I've ever seen at CBP is $6.00 for a 12 oz.
