Photo Finish: Jenkins Knocks in Howard, Phils Win

A quick photographic recap of the Phillies win against San Francisco earlier today:

Phillies vs.Giants, originally uploaded by gajdam1.

Amazing capture by Flickr user and the700level group member Gajdam1. Down in front, Feliz!

Some highlights:
•Shane Vic is back, and he had his best game of the season, with 2 hits and 2 runs scored.
•Pat the Bat continues to rake, smacking 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
Jesus Chase Utley took a day off from being a god among men, at least at the plate. He still managed to get hit by a pitch, and he'll probably hit 2 homers and turn Gatorade into Grey Goose tomorrow against Max Scherzer.
•Cole Hamels was decent, but didn't have his best stuff. Ditto Tim Lincecum.
•Geoff Jenkins squeaked a grounder past Eugenio Velez to score Ryan Howard and break a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 9th. Valez didn't get down on the ball, which should have been a fairly routine play. The big man barreled home, and stabbed his hand past catcher Steve Holm, who hadn't controlled the ball anyway.
•The win was Charlie Manuel's 500th as a manager.

Was an great game, this team always gives a hard effort and wins in big ways

PS- the game ended in the of the 9th

Great Photo. I don't think anyone can say Howard clogs the basepaths, that ball barely got past the infield and he scored from 2nd.

(and Burrell had 2 RBI)

With respect to Ruiz's HR in B8, would it be wrong to say he has "Lieberthal Power"? With the exception of one HR here and there, most have "warning track plus" power.

no coverage of the 10 miler?

@ Phils Fan- Lieberthal had 30+ hrs one year, and was good for around 15 most years, and that was almost entirely at the Vet. I doubt Ruiz will put up those numbers, even at the Bank.

"and he'll probably hit 2 homers and turn Gatorade into Grey Goose tomorrow against Max Scherzer."

Funny stuff. Do you think Utley could've healed Eight Belles' ankles if he was there?

There's something about watching a chunky dude like Howard hustling his ass off toward home plate for the winning run that brings a smile to my heart.

I went to the game and it was just a perfect game. Beautiful day out, pitchers pitched well with a hiccup or two in there to keep the game going back and forth then the Phils win it in a walk-off fashion. Couldn't ask for anything better. Shane looked really good, too.

And I was talking mad shit on Carlos Ruiz and how he was going to probably strikeout the pitch before he knocked it out of the park to tie it up. Totally shocked me.
