Kobe, Snakes, Jackass, & the Lakers
Here's the latest "viral video" attempt by Nike and Kobe Bryant that includes Chris "Party Boy" Pontius and Weeman of Jackass fame. As a follow up to the fairly popular Aston Martin stunt, Kobe and his new friends fill a pool up with some snakes and strangeness ensues.
Weeman and Steve-O both take plunges into the pool of Indiana Jones nightmares. Then Kobe, with some obvious computer assistance, does his best Dr. J from the foul line impersonation over the snake filled pool.
SportsByBrooks has the transcript of Kobe talking about the "assistance" he had in the stunt.
Now, also in Kobe related news: I found myself pulling for the Lakers over the weekend in their match up with the Spurs. Has my Kobe hatred gone soft after the Sixers haven't played a meaningful game against the Philly kind-of-native in years?
What's your take on Kobe. Yay or nay?

These commercials are obviously a rip off of what I believe to be a Japanese game show, and I won't be impressed until he jumps a vat of cottage cheese sponsored by Tokyo Yakult Swallows

I personally hate Kobe with a passion, but am still kind of pulling for the Lakers to come out of the West. Maybe you're in the same boat as I am, Enrico. I detest Kobe and have for quite some time. I detest his team as well. But I also am so tired of seeing the Spurs win championships and would love a change of pace for once. Boston and LA are the two teams that I despise the most, but the matchup would be fun to watch (providing Boston can play like it did for 82 games in the regular season) and it would break the dullness of watching San Antonio vs. whoever, especially if whoever was the Pistons.
I read one article that stated a Spurs-Pistons matchup would be great for the NBA because it would show the world that its teams are consistent. I bet you any amount of money that David Stern and the execs are praying that the Finals consist of Boston-LA, because they play a more up-tempo type of basketball, and have much more star power. That series would draw in the masses much easier than any other combination. So personally, it's not my level of dislike lowering for Kobe, it's my desire for a different final outcome in The Association that's causing me to pull for Kobe and his minions.

I actually agree with you, but not because I like the Lakers or, for that matter, Kobe all that much. I think a lot of his team is Eurotrash; I like Gasol, but Odom and Vujacic are two of my least favorite NBA players. Anyway, the reason I'm rooting for the Lakers now is because I HATE the Spurs. Odom and Vujacic are two of my least favorite, but I hate Ginobili and Bowen more than any other players, and if I have to see Duncan's bugged-out eyes one more time as he tries to get out of a foul that he definitely committed or to draw one that didn't happen I'm going to shoot someone. I hate their flopping, their whining, and their general obnoxiousness. So it's not so much that I'm for the Lakers...it's that I'm against the Spurs.

Kobe is still self-centered and a little too contrived for me. He should kiss Mitch Kupchak's ass in Macy's window for getting Pau Gasol or else they wouldn't be in this position.
Spurs or not, I'm rooting against the Lakers. As a matter of fact, if the Lakers and Celtics make the Finals, I will pretend the NBA playoffs are actually over and move onto something else.
Sorry, still strongly dislike Kobe.
Looks like all of the marketing gurus are the ones truly getting soft of Kobe.

"I will pretend the NBA playoffs are actually over and move onto something else."
Been there for awhile...
As much as I hate both teams, anything other than Lakers/Celtics will be totally unwatchable for all but the biggest NBA fans.

I want to see Kobe jump over that hotel worker from Colorado. I think he tried it 2003 but he missed.

yeah that wasn't Steve-O in that video. and I haven't seen basketball 'special effects' that bad since 'Slam Dunk Ernest'. the Aston Martin one was a little more believable, this one sucked.

I want to still hate Kobe, but the fact that he's become a non-flopping Euro makes it increasingly hard to.

Umm shows how much you know about Jackass. That's not Steve-O, that's Chris Pontius.
To "Joe Pa:" Steve-O has actually been sober for over two months now after getting out of rehab so fuck you. Look it up if you don't believe me.
