Is Brett Myers Serious?
I mean, for real? Was that the first pitch? I couldn't tell if I missed any pitches. Dude gives up HRs to the first two batters he faced. Ugh.

Apparently, he is. I guess that's what happens when you groove 87 mph fastballs down the middle of the plate.

Dude has got to get his head out of his ass...this is rediculus
Posted by: MS | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:17 PM
it was his second pitch to yunel and first to chipper

Dear Charlie,
Please pull Brett now. We might be able to salvage a 3 run game like last night but I don't think we can let Brett do more damage. Thanks.

He's keeping runners off base, anyway.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:27 PM
Only one home run that inning. He's improving.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:30 PM
He was just pissed off at being tied with Roy Oswalt for league lead in Hr's given up. He wont give up any more now that he got that out of the way. But hey i said that after the first one too! Fuck You Brett!

Maybe we should trade Brett, to whatever team will give Howard the most at-bats against him.
Posted by: El Ricko | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:33 PM
It's amazing how hard it is for people to spell ridiculous haha.
Anyway, I actually just posted a poll about this on my site. I'm incredibly pissed off when his unwillingness to do any long-tossing. Not long-tossing consistently can cost you 5-7 mph on your fast ball.
He has no confidence either. What happened to him being fired up and pitching like a closer?
Posted by: Justin Evans | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:36 PM
I can think of only 2 things...
1) Brett Myers forgot how to pitch a game after being a closer last year, and really figuring out the mental differences between being a starting pitcher and being a daily closer.
2) He's hurt. His fastball is consistently low 90's, and can't get good movement on the ball. It makes me wonder if the Phillies just don't care, have no other solution, or maybe waiting to see if Benson will ever be able to pitch again.
Actually, maybe it's a combo of 1 and 2. He became so good at mentally preparing for a closer, that he came out and tried pitching too hard in a start, and tore his arm up.

Im out of jokes. He just keeps grooving fastballs. O and how do you drop that throw from Utley? Jesus Ryan.
Posted by: Mike L. | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 07:57 PM
More ace-tastic pitching from Brett Myers, coming your way!

Just in case any of you were still watching, Billy Madison is on Encore.
IT'S POOP AGAIN!!!
Posted by: river327 | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 08:11 PM
At least we've got that Chase Utley guy.
Posted by: enrico | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 08:56 PM
Yea. Why did we sign this So Taguchi guy again. All he's done is drop easy fly balls and hit into dp's. Some pinch-hitter we got there.

yeah, i hate cholly and the way he plays the righty v righty, lefty v lefty game in the late innings.
jenkins should have been up there instead of the double play machine

Oppo-field home run for Ryno.
thank you god.

How's Ottley doing?
Posted by: Walklett | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 09:35 PM
Myers to the bullpen, Chad Durbin to the rotation. He can't be worse than Myers at this point and they both will be able to pitch where they want to. I think the Phillies should try this, at least until Myers sorts out his problems. JA Happ is also an option, for the rotation. He didn't have a great start tonight (he still did better than Myers), but has been excellent this season for a horrible Iron Pigs team.

I'm not going to try and jinx anything, but I don't think it matters with Vic at the plate...Hopefully he can pull through though.

Gives it a ride, and nothing.
fuck.

Harry had me on that call in the 9th, I thought Shane parked that one :(

bad night for brett, bad night for phillies, probably worst night for mrs myers
Posted by: Wolf | Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 11:43 PM
I am with the person saying to switch Myers for Durbin, although I don't know exactly what Myers role would be in the bullpen. The only starter on this team I feel good about is Hamels so far this year.
It is sad when you can't wait for the starter to get out of the game to get the bullpen in because it is so much better than the starting rotation.

Damn, I guess Sam Carchidi didn't reach him for post game comments.
I've said it since the Opening Day starter was announced: Brett isn't an ace, he doesn't have the personality for it.
Brett Myers: Ace stuff, G.G. Allin personality.

coste. 4-4.
Posted by: b | Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 05:58 AM
Myers cannot goto the bullpen. If Myers leaves the rotation, it'll have to goto the DL. People need to start realizing that this is how Brett Myers has pitched for a majority of his career. He should be fined for everyday he doesn't long-toss.
Posted by: Justin | Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 07:02 AM
Maybe he can toss peanuts in the stands.
Posted by: Bryan | Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 09:36 AM
Maybe the phillies should simulate the ninth inning at the beginning of the game. We can put 9 on the scoreboard and have Brett run in from the bullpen. He is just not pitching like he did last year.
Posted by: BigTom | Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 10:34 AM
We could go further with it too: each inning instead of running to the dugout he could run back to the bullpen, and after the Phils are done batting they can play his music, do the whole entrance thing and he can run in again, or we can get one of those old bullpen carts to ferry him back and forth so it doesn't tire him out like long toss would.
Someone make this happen.
