Iguchi Shines Against Phils
There was a slim chance last off-season of Tadahito Iguchi returning to the Phils this season to play third base. It didn't work out that way and Iguchi ended up signing to play in San Diego.
Last night, as a member of the Padres, Iguchi reminded the South Philly faithful of how important he was for the Phillies in getting to the playoffs last year.
Iguchi went 4-5 with a RBI and a run scored in the Padres win. Jamie Moyer didn't pitch particularly well and the Phils bats, despite Chase Utley being superman, couldn't claw back.

From what I read, he left quite a bit of money on the table to go play second base full time for the Pads. Obviously he's not going to get time in at second here. I would have liked to have kept him but there were questions about his arm strength and the throw from third anyhow. Feliz will turn out to be the better choice at third I believe.

I wish guys like Iguchi and Polanco stuck around, but everything happens for a reason.

How 'bout the title of that pic "Utley Wannabe"?
You could relabel the position of all second basemen in MLB as "Utley Wannabes".

Actually, I like their style, which, coming from an admitted announcer zenophobe, is good praise. Their laid back style, nothing too trademarkish yet even keeled, is befitting the market that the padres play in. They don't seem annoyingly homerish and seem to respect the respectable points of the other guys....
These guys are even, dare I say, funny about some of the quips that they usher out. On a few occasions, they had me laughing and like I said, that doesn't happen too often from the out-of-towners.
