Fight Jose Canseco

Out of bad book ideas and in need of cash, former juicer Jose Canseco is turning to the pathetic. He'll pay some numskull $5,000 bucks to get into a boxing ring and duke it out. Dan Gross writes:

Canseco and promoter Damon Feldman are seeking a challenger to fight the Oakland Athletics veteran on July 12 at the Bernie Robbins Stadium in Atlantic City. The chosen opponent will be paid $5,000. Brave souls should e-mail fightcanseco@aol.com. Canseco's opponent will be revealed in this column next week.

This makes me a little sad inside. Also, can you believe there is a "Bernie Robbins Stadium?"

2 thoughts here:

1.) I don't know whether to think Damon Feldman is a shyster or a genius. This isn't his first go round of pimping an event that is essentially a train wreck.

2.) Yes, there is a Bernie Robbins stadium. Great view of the AC skyline too. A night out at the stadium to watch the AC Surf is not a bad way to spend an evening in AC when you're sick of giving the casinos your money. (Chuck Barkley, I'm looking at you.)

Who I'd like to see Jose fight in this order....

1.) The Phillie Phanatic

2.) Barry Bonds

3.) Buster Olney

I'm sure it will wind up being Danny Bonaduce though.....

Dude, no, the correct answer, the only answer...

Mike Tyson.

its a great idea. Canseco was a great baseball player and with his name being in the media lately for the house foreclosure, it should be a decent draw for fans. now all he needs is to add Tonya Harding to the card and Butterbean and it could be a big success.
