Everybody Loves Chase Utley

And with good reason.

Utley leads all NL players with 537,788 votes, and it isn't even close. Utley is more than 100,000 votes ahead of the next most popular player, Astros first baseman Lance Berkman (329,723). But Utley is the only Phillies player leading at his position, which tells me that he's getting votes from all NL precincts, not just Philadelphia.

Utley is President Bush's favorite player, and if there's anyone who knows how to manipulate a vote...

That recount was toooooootaly legal. Je-je-je-JEBediah.

so utley is the nl leading vote getter. that rocks. there is pretty much no doubt he'll be starting at second again for the nl squad. so moving on...

let's get pat the bat into the all star game this year. everyone can vote 25 times. head over to vote and make sure you check burrell's name, and NOT those who have votes in front of him (soriano, fukudome, griffey, and two others i'm not sure about)

PLUS!!! fukudome would be the first nl rookie outfielder to start the summer classic since richie ashburn in 1948. we can't let that happen.

VOTE!!!

Matt Holliday is one of the players ahead of the Bat in the voting.

ok, i filled out a couple of all star ballots this week, and Utley's supposed dominance of the NL players is simply due to a dearth of talent at his position. at 1st base, where Lance Berkman is having the best year of anyone, there are at least 5 other players who have the name recognition or the numbers to warrant votes (name: Pujols, Fielder, Teixeira, D Lee, Howard numbers: Jacobs, Jackson). at second base there is really only one player (the unknown Dan Uggla) putting up the numbers that would make a fan consider voting, so Chase Utley it is. (its like if ESPN holds a silly SC poll of a top play and there are 3 yankee plays and 1 red sox play, the redsox play wins b/c all of sox nation votes for the one play, but they yankee vote is split among the 3). hell, i don't know why i'm posting this, all star voting is absurd anyways, (see: Piazza, M and Rodriguez, I)

I second the Burrell vote. This year has been by far his best season ever, and even when he was slumping a little, he was still hitting well. Also, his defense has been better this year also. Pat the Bat for STARTER!

537,788-329,723= 208,065

so apparently chase leads all vote getters by 200,000

Lance Berkman is not the next closest to Utley in vote totals.....Chipper Jones is. I am no math wiz...but I know that 420,664 is bigger than 329,723.

Lauber made an oops.

I'd like to vote for Burrell to make the All-Star roster, but I can't. Convicted felon.

It seem like the voting is getting it right so far, at least in the infield. Soto, Berkman, Utley, Chipper, and Hanley are all the best at their position this year. The outfield is a bit off, no way should Griffey get voted in, I'm voting Burrell, McLouth, and Braun.

the Bat needs to be an all star. i've also been voting for aaron rowand. he's mashing the ball for that crap team.

the voting rightly reflects the difference between chase and all other players at his position. he is far and away the best 2nd baseman, but right now i would say he is the best player in the national league.

...which is why I am getting a Victorino shirt this year. Chase has a lotta love. I like Shane's at-bat jam better anyway.

How awesome is to vote for Burrell, and know you're not just being a homer?

Chase Utley may be the best thing that happened to baseball in about 30 years. Without him, we would probably be still talking about steriods. Clemens just might be sent to sea on a piece of ice.
