Eaton Wins!
Throwing six innings of one-run ball, Adam Eaton earned his first win of the season. Eaton, who got by with a little help from his defense, allowed four hits, struck out four and walked just one. And don't look now, but Eaton's ERA is now below 5.00...
The Phils won, 6-1, sweeping the banged up Rockies. Shane Victorino continued his tear, going 3-4 on three infield singles (no word on whether Todd Helton spit and said, "You really knocked the crap out of that one." /Duke). He also scored two runs and swiped two bags. The Buffalo Soldier's batting average is now up to .291 on the season, and he's got at least one hit in each of his last 10 games. However, he's not walking out to Buffalo Soldier anymore; on Tuesday, we noticed he came out to a few different Marley songs. We're hoping for "Zimbabwe" next time around.
Chase Utley added another homer, and if you only saw the swing, you might say, his record-setting numbers are inflated by the small park. You might be right, but not on this pitch. Despite his trademark short swing, Utley's long ball landed in the upper deck in right. Utley will finish the month with the most homers by a second baseman at the end of May. Ever.
He leads the majors with 17 homers, and the National League with 46 RBI, not to mention All-Star voting.
Today, the Phils are off, but the Marlins come in tomorrow to hand over first place in the NL East.

Speaking of intro music, Jimmy needs to chance his. That Geico commercial song sucks.

I met Victorino at a corporate event a month and a half ago (when he was on the DL). I told him I thought it was time for a new song, as much as I love Buffalo Soldier. I'm glad he finally did it!

Chuck Norris wears Chase Utley pajamas to bed every night.

As long as Chase Utley draws breath he must start as the NL's second baseman. So let it be written, so let it be done.

I like how this topic is all about Eaton getting his 1st win, and all anyone is commenting about is Victorino, Rollins and Utley.

I gotta give props to Ruiz. He was solid behind the plate last night. He took out two runners heading for home and threw out a stolen base attempt at second. I like Coste and all and I know Ruiz is slumping with the bat a bit, but damn, he is a hell of backstop. is guy is.

Adam Eaton is going to give me a coronary someday. It like when a little kid is shooting a basketball at a regulation basket, and he barely even gets the ball high enough to hit the top of the rim. But every once in awhile one goes in and your tell them good job and they are getting better, even though you know the next one is probably not even going to hit the backboard. This may have been a drawn out rambling post, but it's the only way I could explain how I feel about lil' Adam.

For all the Eaton bashing that goes on, most of it deserved, he's given the Phillies a chance to win almost every start so far this season. With some more run support, he could be sitting on 5 or 6 wins right now.

Nice job by Chaaly handling Eaton last night... Now that Eaton put together two decent starts, does he suck less than Myers... or do they equally suck?

I'm giving props to the in-between guys. The guys that fill the lineup gaps between our all-stars and expected hitters. Without players like Dobbs, Feliz, Werth, Victorino, Jenkins, etc, getting hits to extend innings, our offense would be leaving a lot on base, as we have been so accustomed to.
