Donovan McNabb Missed L.J. Smith in '07
Number Five was in Harrisburg hobnobbing with everybody's favorite former mayor and many of our state's fine constituents. Of course, the questions turned to the Eagles off-season acquisitions and McNabb plays the "we can compete with what we've got line." I don't think he seems real thrilled. Am I reading too much into it? [FanHouse]

I think you're reading too much into it.

I don't know if he doesn't buy it, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a choice but to work with what he's got.
I think his attitude is more of passive acceptance than veiled disgust.

Nah, I don't think you are reading too much into it, but I think McNabb's been down this road too many times before and knows there is no right answer. Dude seems really, really weary of it all, and I think that's what's coming through. He's said his peace, he's asked for more playmakers, he didn't get what he was asking for but can't throw his teammates under a bus, so this is his "I've answered this shit too many times in 9 years, here ya go" lame response.
But now I have to go because I'm about to have a seizure from looking at the walking man add too long.

Donovan McNabb, January 8:
"Now that the season is over and we are concentrating on 2008, I hope we are able to secure some playmakers in all three phases of the game. Maybe some of those playmakers are already on the roster but have struggled with injuries, myself included, that have held us back a little."
"We didn't disrespect anyone when we traded for Takeo Spikes or signed Kevin Curtis last year. I don't think the Patriots were being disrespectful to Troy Brown or Reche Caldwell when they brought in Moss, Stallworth and Welker. Over the past few years, when the 49ers added Nate Clements, the Seahawks added Julian Peterson, the Giants added Plaxico Burress, the Colts added Adam Vinatieri, it was in an effort to add playmakers."
