Win, Win, Win. Utley's Two Homers Cap Great Night Of Philly Sports
The Flyers started the night off by clinching a playoff birth with a win over the Devils, the Sixers made it even sweeter by clinching a playoff birth of their own, and then Chase Utley showed up to cap off the evening with a Phillies victory. Utley went 2-4 with 2 HRs, 3 Rs, and a walk. Pat Burrell got in on the long ball action by launching a BLAST deep into the Cincinnati night. Kyle Kendrick looked OK. Not great, not horrid, just okay. But it was good enough for his first win of the season to pull the Phils back up to .500 ball after the first four games of 2008.
The bullpen was again used more than Charlie would have liked. J.C. Romero's arm may fall off by mid July. Romero has appeared in all four games this season and has not allowed a run. Thankfully, Brad Lidge can come off the DL on Saturday and take some much needed innings for the pen.
It's not often that we can bask in this kind of success for all of our teams. Granted the Phils have a lot of baseball to play but the Sixers and Flyers have both made the playoffs in improbable fashion. There's nothing like a little playoff action to kick start your April.
Gary Papa runs through the highlights after the jump.
Oh and Pat the Bat? Dude's got so much juice that he even has fan clubs in Kentucky.

Hey guys. Thanks for posting my video of Pat the Bat. I laughed my ass off when I saw that on TV. I'm actually gonna miss him when he leaves this year.

Holy shit, what happened to Gary Papa?! There's so much botulism in his forehead the EPA has declared it a Superfund cleanup site.
I'm going to miss Burrell next year too. Those UK guys were a riot. The director must have loved them too, because every time Pat did something good they cut to those dudes freaking out.

Although not charged to him, I believe Romero allowed an inherited runner to score in that high scoring loss to the Nats (game 1?) Still, he's probably the best guy we got out in the pen.

Romero walks way too many guys to be the best reliever on the team (25 walks in 35 innings last year). although he made up the difference by only allowing 15 hits, I would not feel at ease if he was our closer.

That's not Botox, you moron. Gary Papa is in chemotherapy for prostate cancer.
